Tag/Day 0.7 Pre-Cruise auf der/on NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY in Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Da Parken vor dem Hotel 0,50 EUR/9 Minuten (2013) kostet, bringen wir den Wagen sofort zurück. Walburghof 17. Liegt etwas versteckt. Direkt mit einer AVIA-Tankstelle davor.



As parking in front of the hotel was 0.50 EUR/9 minutes (2013) we returned the car immediately back: Walburghof 17. It was a little hidden. But you had an AVIA fuel station just in front.



Ach schade...



So sad...

Bruno returned the keys...

Dann müssen wir raus aus dem Hof - einmal rechts.



We had to leave the court and make a right turn...

und schon ist man vor dem Hintereingang des Rotterdamer Hauptbahnhofs.



and then you reached the back entrance of the Central Station in Rotterdam.

You need to cross the station from end to the other.



Einmal durchmarschieren zum Haupteingang.

Hier würde die U-Bahn zum Hotel bzw. Cruise Terminal fahren.



Here we could get the subway to our hotel or to the Cruise Terminal.

But in front of the train station, you still find chaos.



Nur vor dem Bahnhof ist alles immer noch chaotisch.

Wir wollen zur Straßenbahn und orientieren uns am The Manhattan.



We need to find the tram and The Manhattan gave us some orientation.

All trams left from the left side.

Trams 20 and 25 leave from here to the Cruise Terminal. Tram 23 leave from the opposite platform (2013).

Correct direction: Tram 7 towards Willemsplein.

3,00 EUR (2013) kostet die Fahrt. Kaufen wir einfach bei der Schaffnerin.



A single ride was 3.00 EUR (2013). You can buy the tickets with the conductor.

And never forget: place your ticket in front of this machine whenever you board or leave the tram.



Und niemals vergessen: beim Ein- UND Aussteigen: immer die Karte vorhalten.

Auf der einen Seite des Hotels kommt die Bahn an. Die Abfahrt erfolgt auf der Rückseite des Hotels.



I asked some Facebook-Friends who should be also on NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY (Aad and Nicoline - https://www.cruisefans.nl/) and checked also with the management of the restaurant: the restaurant is located adjustant to the Cruise Terminal.



Ich hatte mich bei Facebook-Freunden, die auch auf der NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY sind (Aad und Nicoline - https://www.cruisefans.nl/) und bei der Restaurant-Leitung nochmals erkundigt: das Restaurant liegt schräg gegenüber des Cruise Terminals...

So laufen wir über die Erasmusbrücke und genießen bei Sonnenschein und etwas kaltem Wind diesen Ausblick.



So we went over the Erasmus Bridge and enjoyed the view with some sunshine and some cold wind.

Left side under the metal rack you find the tram stop.



Links unter dem Metallgestänge hält die Straßenbahn.

Und rechts vor dem roten Luxor-Gebäude ist der U-Bahn-Eingang.



And to the right side in front of the red Luxor-Building, you find the entrance to the subway.

I prefer to take the tram... 5 minutes difference - you must not go down and up. Even you have escalators...



Ich nehme lieber die Straßenbahn... 5 Minuten Unterschied - dafür geht es nicht runter und rauf. Trotz der Rolltreppen...

An der Ecke ist immer noch der Geldautomat.



At the corner you find an ATM.

When we came the first time, there was still parking, and you could see the terminal. Now they build the NH Hotel next to the terminal. Let's see when they finish the building.



Als wir zum ersten Mal hierher kamen, war rechts noch ein Parkplatz und man konnte direkt zum Cruise Terminal gucken. Da kommt direkt das NH Hotel daneben. Mal gucken, wann es fertig wird.

Und da ist das Cruise Terminal für morgen.

But there was no restaurant... adjusting to the Cruise Terminal meant the opposite river bank... so our side of the river...



Bloß kein Restaurant... mit gegenüber vom Cruise Terminal war die andere Wasserseite gemeint... also unsere Seite...

Es geht einfach zum Wasser-Taxi.



So we headed to the water-taxi.

Within a few minutes, we got one.



Innerhalb weniger Minuten kommt es auch schon.

Für 20,00 EUR inkl. Trinkgeld geht es rüber auf die andere Maas-Seite.



For 20.00 EUR incl. tips we were taken to the opposite site fo the river Maas.



Ein schöner Anblick vom Wasser aus. Vorne das Hotel New York - die ehemalige Zentrale von Holland America Line before sie von Carnival übernommen wurde und die Zentrale nach Seattle gezogen ist. Mit Aad und Nicoline war ich dort schon mal essen. Auch sehr gut. Nur übernachtet hatte ich bislang dort noch nicht, da es mir zu teuer war.



A nice view from the water. In front you see Hotel New York - the former corporate office of Holland America Line before it was taken over by Carnival and they moved the office to Seattle. I had one dinner with Aad and Nicoline, and it was very nice. But I never stayed there overnight as it was too expensive for me.

Within eyeshot SS ROTTERDAM. By the way now you find the parking for cruisers. No idea of the 15.00 EUR per day (2013) also applied to cruisers. Here they mentioned that it should be only 13.00 EUR per day (2013) for cruisers. When my company paid, I stayed there, but somehow I was quite disappointed. Especially I did have the impression that their breakfast was something special. But I heard that the operator changed.



Und die SS ROTTERDAM in Sichtweite. Dort ist übrigens jetzt auch der Parkplatz für Kreuzfahrer. Ich habe aber keine Ahnung, ob die 15,00 EUR/Tag (2013) auch für Kreuzfahrer gilt. Hier heißt es, dass es für Kreuzfahrer bloß 13,00 EUR/Tag (2013) sind. Als die Firma bezahlt hat, habe ich dort mal übernachtet und war eigentlich ziemlich enttäuscht. Vor allem das Frühstück empfand ich damals als nicht besonders. Aber angeblich soll der Betreiber gewechselt haben.

Wir laufen von mir hier aus noch 1-2 Minuten bis zum indonesischen Dewi Sri Restaurant, das uns unsere Freunde empfohlen wird.



From here we walked another 1-2 minutes until we reached the Indonesian Dewi Sri Restaurant which was recommended by our friends.

Around 20.30 hrs we arrived there. As we did not like to sit next to the exit, we waited for a moment.



Gegen 20.30 Uhr kommen wir an. Da wir keinen Tisch direkt am Ausgang wollen, warten wir einen Moment.

Es gab nicht nur die Krabbenchips Kropoek, sondern auch Reis-Chips.



They did not just offer crab meat chips (Kropoek) but also some rice chips.

A real board of rice (Rijstafel) with many small bowls...



Eine echte Reistafel mit vielen kleinen Schälchen...





Satay... aus Hühnchen und Schwein...



Satay... made of chicken and pork...





Very yummy... sometimes a little to spicy... and you need plenty of time.



Sehr lecker... nur ein Tick manchmal zu scharf... und man sollte viel Zeit mitbringen.

Dann kommen die Pfefferminz-Plättchen... Warum muss man darüber Wasser gießen?



Some mint drops came... But why do you need to pour water on?

They grew..., and you had towels...



Und dann wachsen sie... Handtücher.

Über diese Show müssen alle lachen.



On this show everyone need to laugh.

We had no dessert as we were exhausted and needed to walk back.



Auf den Nachtisch verzichten wir, weil wir sehr müde waren und noch zurücklaufen müssen.
