Noch ein Blick auf unser Hotel...



One more look to our hotel...

Our set sail started with beautiful sunshine. I know that inside-out and so I tried to transmit pictures on Facebook, but it did not work because Facebook had problems. So I went occasionally out to see what was going on around.



Die Ausfahrt aus Rotterdam erfolgt bei strahlendem Sonnenschein. Ich kenne sie in und auswendig und daher versuche ich nur Bilder auf Facebook zu übertragen, was mir allerdings nicht gelingt, weil Facebook Probleme macht. So gucke ich mal von Zeit zu Zeit raus.









Das einzig gute an der Kabine: wir sind direkt in der Nähe der Brücke.

Und so können wir bei der Arbeit zugucken:

Well: last night we had to walk around the Veerhaven.



Ach ja: gestern Abend mussten wir den Veerhaven umlaufen.

Da ist nochmals unser Restaurant von gestern Abend: dewi sri.

As usual, we turned around in the Waalhaven.



Im Waalhaven drehen wir wie üblich.

Und als ich dann aus dem Fenster gucke, ist neben uns einer der Feuerlöschboote.



When I looked out again from our window we could see the fire-fighting book.









And then it continued the use of the pump.



Und nahm wieder die Pumpe in Betrieb.





Ich genieße jetzt die Ausfahrt, weil Facebook mich immer noch nicht die Bilder laden lässt.

Als Friends of Dorothy haben wir natürlich bei Dorothy von cruisebrothers.com gebucht. Das brachte uns ein OBC von 150,00 USD für die eine Nacht ein. Daher konnten wir großzügig trinken. Es ging jedoch um das Prinzip, dass wir mit S4 schon die drittbeste Kategorie haben (S1 gibt es nicht) und dann in der Kabine "verdursten". Die hätten sich wirklich kein Bein abgebrochen, dort eine Flasche Wasser hinzustellen. Kurzerhand gehen wir selbst kaufen.



As Friends of Dorothy we booked of course with Dorothy of cruisebrothers.com. So we got an OBC of 150.00 USD for one night. So we could afford to drink a lot. It was because of their policy that you booked the third-best cabin cat. S4 (There is no S1) and you are dying on thirst in your own cabin. It would not hurt them too much to place a bottle of water. So we walked ourselves to buy some water.

At the desk, you had European power-outlets which were used for the phone. But you can just take it out if the handset is fully charged. I told some of my friends my cabin number. Many of them I do not know by full civil name, and so the front desk had no chance to identify me to find out my new cabin number by using my first name or my forum-name. It was also impossible to arrange a call diversion.



Am Schreibtisch ist die Euro-Steckdose schon mal durch das Telefon belegt. Man kann sie aber einfach herausziehen, wenn das Handteil voll geladen ist. Ich hatte einigen die ursprüngliche Kabinennummer genannt. Viele kennen mich nicht unter bürgerlichem Namen und hätten so gar nicht an der Rezeption meine neue Nummer rauskriegen können und viele kenne ich wiederum nur mit Vornamen oder mit dem Forumnamen. Aber es war unmöglich eine Anrufweiterleitung zu schalten.

Das war die Sonnenallee... vorne nur noch eine S6-Suite...

Facing the other end, you find a long endless dark gangway...



Und in die andere Richtung der endlos lange dunkle Gang...

Das wäre Ihre Preis gewesen: 16122 direkt an der "Gedächtniskirche". Bruno steht direkt am Zugang zu The Haven Concierge Lounge, Bar, Restaurant, Pool usw. und das direkt vor unserer gebuchten Kabinentür.

When we returned to our cabin the "Nanny"-cabin looked this way...



Als wir abends reinkommen, sieht die Nanny Kabine so aus...

Und wir... immer noch keine zwei getrennte Decken...



And us... still no seperate blankets...

Later we learned it was again a lack of communication... Maybe you better do not communicate in the mother tongue of the crew member because the crew member only thinks in English and missed some details. So we had to ask another time...



Wie sich herausstellt: wohl wieder ein Kommunikationsfehler... vielleicht sollte man nicht in der Landessprache des Crewmitglieds kommunizieren, weil das Crewmitglied schon in Englisch denkt und dann nichts mehr mitbekommt. Also müssen wir nochmals nachfragen...

Was mich wundert: auf vielen anderen Schiffen gibt es diese Hinweise mittlerweile auf dem Bildschirm. Hier immer noch als Papierform.



We were surprised: on many other ships you get this information on your screen. Here you still had it in a paper version.

My book was back. But the signature of the Captain was missing.



Mein Buch ist zurück, aber zu meiner Enttäuschung fehlt die Unterschrift des Kapitäns.

Als ich nachfrage, hieß es, dass der Kapitän vorne unterschrieben hat... Ein weiteres Kommunikationsproblem...



When I asked again I was told that the Captain signed in the front of the ship... Another lack of communication...

Our butler Armando de Guzman noticed that I was very disappointed and promised to take care of this matter by himself and to make sure that I get back my book before debarkation. And he kept his promise.



Unser Butler Armando de Guzman merkte mir die Enttäuschung an und versprach mir, sich persönlich der Sache nochmals anzunehmen und dafür zu sorgen, dass ich bis zur Ausschiffung mein Buch wiederbekomme. Und erhält sein Versprechen.

Ein deutsches Programm, worum ich gebeten habe, war immer noch nicht gekommen... Ein weiteres Kommunikationsproblem.



We never got a German program which I asked for... Another lack of communication.

The beauty desk was just next to my bed so I had some power-outlets to recharge...



Das Schminktisch stand direkt neben meinem Bett, so hatte ich dort genügend Steckdosen zum Aufladen...

Kleines Problem: es gab keine Seifenschale und in der Metallschale ist sie festgeklebt... Was liebe ich meine Flüssigseife im Spender...



Small problem: there was no bowl for the soap and it sticked on the metal plate... I miss my dispenser with the liquid soap...

Our bed was so high that I need to have a footrest to get up and down...



Unser Bett war so hoch, dass ich eigentlich ein Fußbänkchen bräuchte, um rauf und runter zu kommen...

Damals auf der NORWEGIAN GEM: eine große Schiebetür zwischen Wohn- und Master Bedroom.



Then on NORWEGIAN GEM you had a large sliding door between living room and master bedroom.

Now - guests who might need XXXL size clothes might get in crosswise... but guests who require the size XXXXL need to sleep in the living room and having a shower in the pool area of The Haven and use the handicapped toilet upstairs... Bruno asked how they managed to get the mattress into the room...



Nun - Gäste, die die Größe XXXL benötigen, kämen vielleicht noch quer rein... aber Gäste, die die Größe XXXXL benötigen, müssten wohl im Wohnzimmer schlafen und im Pool in The Haven baden und die Behindertentoilette oben benutzen... Bruno fragt sich, ob sie die Matratze eigentlich schon vorher verbaut haben...

Irgendwie verstehe ich die Karte nicht... Der Standortpunkt blinkt immer nördlich von Goes.



Somehow I did not understand the map... The actual location was flashing north of Goes.

We had a little draught. Not as extreme as on other ships... but to find a way to mask it correctly was a real challenge.



Es zog ein wenig. Nicht so extrem, wie auf anderen Schiffen... aber hier das richtig abzukleben, war schon eine größere Herausforderung.

Aber das lässt Bruno für eine Nacht.



So for one night Bruno did not do anything.

A safe which was illuminated inside. So far we did not get any information regarding the immigration in Southampton. On the last cruises, the officers went on board in Rotterdam, and you had passport check while you were onboard. But due to savings and more control options ashore, it should not be offered anymore.



Ein Safe, der von innen beleuchtet war. Interessanterweise gab es bislang keine Hinweise zur Immigration in Southampton. Bisher waren die Beamte immer schon in Rotterdam an Bord gekommen und die Kontrolle fand auch an Bord statt. Aber aufgrund von Einsparungsmaßnahmen und mehr Kontrollmöglichkeiten soll wohl das nicht mehr angeboten werden.

Dass Frances und Eddie sich unsere Bademäntel geschnappt hatten, wurde bemerkt: es wurden dann die richtig-dicken-flauschigen von The Haven reingehangen.



As they noticed that Frances and Eddie took our bathrobes we got the right one thick-fluffy for The Haven.

What I missed a floor heating very much. The tile floor was ice-cold, so you need to have the slippers to enter the bathroom.



Was fehlt: eine Fußboden-Heizung. Der Fliesenboden war eiskalt, so dass man wirklich die Schlappen brauchte, um das Bad zu betreten.

Was nervig war: wenn man die Schubladen aufzog, waren die Handtücher dazwischen, die man anheben musste, um die Schubladen zu schließen.



It was somehow disturbing: if you open the drawers you had the towels in between so you had to lift them up before you could close the drawers again.

Now we had no communication problem because there was no communication. I went to 02a.00 hrs (due to time adjustment you had the hour from 02.00 hrs to 03.00 hrs twice) to the front desk and asked for debarkation information which should typically be also distributed within The Haven.



In einem Fall gab es kein Kommunikationsproblem, weil einfach nicht kommuniziert wurde. Ich bin um 02a.00 Uhr (Wegen Zeitumstellung gab es ja die Stunde von 02.00 Uhr bis 03.00 Uhr zwei Mal!) zur Rezeption gegangen und die hat mir dann die Ausschiffungsinformationen zur Verfügung gestellt, die auch in The Haven verteilt werden sollten.

Zu meiner Überraschung: Es gibt kein Easy-Walk-Off, sondern die Ausschiffung findet deckweise statt! Aber vermutlich nur mal bei dieser Reise ohne Gepäckservice. Überhaupt war denen an Bord die Gäste "egal", die anschließend noch auf die Transatlantik gehen und z. T. noch später bis zu den Bermudas: einen Aufbewahrungsservice könnte man mangels Platz (lt. Douglas Ward 144.017 t) nicht anbieten. Das ist übrigens das erste Mal erlebe, dass man so kundenUNfreundlich agiert. Kannte ich bisher nicht von NCL. Bislang haben sie noch nie nein gesagt, oder eine Alternative angeboten. Sind die guten Zeiten von NCL etwa vorbei? Hier erfährt man dann auch, dass die Immigration an der Brücke vor Betreten des Cruise Terminals stattfindet.



To my surprise: there was no Easy-Walk-off offered but a debarkation deck by deck. But I assume only because it was a voyage without baggage service. Anyhow they did not take care of guests who were also going on the Transatlantic and maybe later to the Bermudas: they cannot offer a storage service because the ship was too small and they had not enough space (according to Douglas Ward 144,017 t). It was the very first time that I experienced that NCL reacted so UNfriendly to their guests. I never experienced this before. So far they never said no before or offered another option. Are the good times with NCL gone? Here you learned that immigration will be done at the bridge before you enter the terminal.

Nun das weicht leider auch wieder ab, zu der Karte, die beim Obst lag: Das Restaurant in The Haven öffnet bereits um 07.00 Uhr und nicht erst um 07.30 Uhr.



Another difference to the card we got with the fruits: The Haven Restaurant should open already at 07.00 hrs and not at 07.30 hrs.

While I was editing my pictures in the night, I had to open the balcony door although it was ice-cold outside you could smell all the solvent.



Ich lasse die ganze Nacht, während ich am Schreibtisch die Bilder bearbeite, die Balkontür auf, obwohl es eiskalt draußen ist, aber der Geruch von Lösungsmittel ist unerträglich.
