Jetzt im Tageslicht gibt es doch mal eine Gelegenheit sich im Hotel um zu sehen: eine tolle Dachterrasse mit Blick auf die Einfahrt in den Hafen auf dem Stockwerk mit dem kleinen Fitness Studio. Bei der Gelegenheit: Ignacio hat sich ganz toll um alle Anfragen meinerseits gekümmert und die Abholungen der anderen von den Flughäfen arrangiert.

For a Holiday Inn Express, they had a lovely breakfast buffet. They even had lactose-free milk.

Mit Interesse verfolge ich das Fernsehprogramm, das im Hintergrund läuft.



It was interesting to follow the TV programme in the background.

I had never seen before beach-handball. I was considering to add a match as part of our agenda... The girls wore very little... Watching the boys should allow seeing a lot of naked skin. Checking on google came to the result: if you wanted to see a lot of bare skin, you needed to see the match of the girls...



Beachhandball habe ich bislang noch nie gesehen. Ich stelle Überlegungen an, so ein Spiel mit das Besuchsprogramm aufzunehmen... Die Mädels tragen wenig... Dann wird doch bei den Jungs viel nackte Haut zu sehen sein... Aber eine Prüfung bei Google führt zum Ergebnis: wenn man nackte Haut sehen will, muss man zu den Spielen der Frauen...

Als nächstes wird das Programm unterbrochen... sieht doch fast aus, wie das Logo von "Love Boat"... aber mit einem Schiff von Royal Caribbean... etwas passt nicht.

But it was the commercial for a sports tv channel.



Es wird allerdings für einen Sportsender geworben.

Wir gehen in die Einkaufsmeile. Ich bin überrascht über das Bild, das sich bietet: jeder hat uns gewarnt, dass es ganz schlimm sei. Ich hatte damit gerechnet, dass wir so in "Favela"-ähnlichen Strukturen herumirren würden. Aber das ist gar nicht der Fall. Eigentlich könnte Buenos Aires auch in Spanien sein und es würde überhaupt nicht auffallen. Wobei: ich habe noch nie Spanien einen Parkplatz gesehen, der mit Hilfe einer Netzkonstruktion die Autos vor der Sonne schützt. Es gibt Straßenhändler, aber es ist nicht anders, als wenn in Barcelona die Ramblas entlanggehe. Gut sind die Hausnummern, die blockweise in 100-er-Schritten, aufgeteilt sind.



We went to the shopping mile. I was surprised to experience the image: everyone warned us, that would be very terrible. I was expecting that we would browse in "Favela"-(Slum)-like quarters. But it was not. Actually, Buenos Aires could also be in Spain, and it would not attract any attention. But: in Spain, I had never seen before a parking lot, where they protected cars against the sun by setting up a web construction. They had street dealers, but it was not different like walking on Ramblas in Barcelona, Spain. It was good to have house-numbering, in 100 steps, from block to block.

We were looking for a mobile phone provider to buy a SIM-card to use the internet. Unfortunately, you were not allowed to buy it at every corner, but only with the mobile phone providers themselves. Movistar (Telefonica/O2) did not provide an attractive prepaid-offer for foreigners without residence. Personal did not want to sell to us. Only Claro. But they did not have the best network, and just now, their computer in the main branch did not work for activation. They sent us to another office.



Wir suchen einen Mobilfunkanbieter, bei dem wir eine SIM-Karte für die Nutzung von Internet kaufen können. Leider gibt es das nicht an jeder Ecke, sondern nur bei den Mobilfunkanbietern selbst. Movistar (Telefonica/O2) hat kein attraktives Prepaid-Angebot für Ausländer ohne Wohnsitz. Personal will uns nichts verkaufen. Nur Claro. Allerdings haben sie nicht das beste Netz und ausgerechnet die Computer für die Aktivierung laufen derzeit nicht in deren Hauptfiliale. Sie schicken uns aber zu einer anderen Filiale.

Dort richten sie uns alles sehr schnell ein. Aber auch hier nur gegen Vorlage des Reisepasses. Und keine vorzeitige Erhöhung des Guthabens möglich. Später ohne Büro von Claro schaffen wir es nicht, Guthaben aufzuladen.

Aber was macht man damit? Dippen oder nicht dippen? Wir wissen es bis heute nicht!



What should you do with it? To dip or not to dip? We still have no idea until today!

From other friends, who went recently to Buenos Aires, we heard horror stories, how dangerous it would be to use a taxi in Buenos Aires. We tried it on Uber. But their drivers were weirder.



Von anderen Freunden, die vor kurzem in Buenos Aires waren, hören wir Horrorgeschichten, wie gefährlich die Nutzung eines Taxis in Buenos Aires ist. Wir versuchen es mit Uber. Die Fahrer sind noch alle komischer drauf.

Eine Fahrt zu buchen gelingt uns nicht. Oftmals werden wir vorab kontaktiert, dass wir in bar zahlen sollen und dass wir uns nach denen richten sollen.



We could not book a ride. They contacted us ahead and forced us to pay in cash, and we should follow their plans.

At short notice, we took a taxi and honestly: one time the driver was super friendly and one time we had a driver like in Turkey, who tried to sell add-on-services and drop us off about 100 yards away from our hotel after we did not book anything. Apart from that, we made the acquaintance of a new Volkswagen model, which we never saw before in Germany: the Voyage.



Kurzerhand nehmen wir ein Taxi und ganz ehrlich: einmal ist der Fahrer sehr freundlich und einmal ist der Fahrer so schlimm wie in der Türkei, der unterwegs uns alles Mögliche an Zusatzleistungen anbietet und uns 100 m vor dem Hotel absetzt, nach dem wir nichts bei ihm buchen. Ansonsten lernen wir hier ein VW-Modell kennen, das es in Deutschland gar nicht gibt: der Voyage.

Wir gehen im Patio Bullrich Einkaufszentrum uns umsehen.

It looked like the GUM Department Store in Moscow, Russia.



Erinnert mich an das Kaufhaus GUM in Moskau.

Es ist hier weit ruhiger, weil es doch hochpreisiger ist.



It was much calmer here, since it was more for a higher price level.

I was checking around for Pancetta with Valenti. But it did not look so good like the smoked one, which I saw before in Germany. But they did not have the prepared one like we knew from GRAND PRINCESS 2018, but only the raw one. So sad.



Ich sehe mich nach Pancetta bei Valenti um. Aber das sieht leider nicht so schön geräuchert aus, wie das andere, das ich in Deutschland zuvor gesehen hatte. Und sie haben nicht den als Rollbraten fertig zubereitet da, was ich jeden Tag hätte auf der GRAND PRINCESS 2018 essen können, sondern nur in diesem rohen Zustand. Schade.

Marina ist pünktlich da, um uns abzuholen. Sie hat einen größeren, komfortableren Bus für uns mit, der es auch allen einfacher macht, mitzukommen. Das hat BSAS4U/Daytours4U sehr gut organisiert.



Marina was on time here, to pick us up. She got a larger, more comfortable bus for us, so it was easier for all of us to join. That was well arranged by BSAS4U/Daytours4U.

For Argentinian circumstances, having lunch at 13:00 hrs, was quite early. We went first to the Restaurant Gourmet Porteño, which we all liked very much. And here they all set up for us very well, and the selection was also very nice.



Für argentinische Verhältnisse ist Mittagessen um 13:00 Uhr sehr früh. Wir fahren daher zunächst zum Restaurant Gourmet Porteño, das uns allen schon mal sehr gut gefällt. Auch hier ist alles toll für uns vorbereitet und die Auswahl ist sehr gut.

Gut gestärkt fahren wir ein paar Meter weiter innerhalb Porto Madero zum Museumsschiff PRESIDENTE SARMIENTO, die vor der Frauenbrücke liegt. Für ein paar Fotos halten wir hier.

We headed to Floralis Genérica, which was acting like a real Tulip flower to turn the face the sun or to open or to close the blossom.



Weiter geht es zur Floralis Genérica, die sich wie eine echte Tulpe nach der Sonne ausrichtet und sich entsprechend dreht bzw. öffnet oder schließt.

Hier entstehen ein paar weitere Selfies. U. a. mit Birgitt, die gemeinsam mit Rossita in der selben Firma in der Schweiz arbeitet und ihrer Freundin Martina, die aus Deleware angereist ist.

We continued for the rose garden of Rosedal de Palermo. Color- and aroma-therapy in the middle of Buenos Aires and you got it free of charge. A detour which was worth to have a lot of fun.



Weiter geht es in den Rosengarten Rosedal de Palermo. Farb- und Aromatherapie mitten in Buenos Aires und das kostenlos. Ein Abstecher, der sehr viel Spaß gemacht hat.

Hier entstehen auch sehr viele Selfies auch mit Marina, die als Fremdenführerin eine tolle Leistung erbringt.

Es geht dann weiter zum Friedhof. Hier schaffen wir alle auf ein Bild zu bekommen: inkl. aller Neuankömmlinge Christian (Rossitas Sohn), Ekkehard (Rossitas Mann) sowie unser Fahrer Marcello.



We went to our next destination: a cemetery. Here we could make all on one picture: incl. all new fellow-travelers Christian (Rossita's son), Ekkehard (Rossita's husband), and our driver Marcello.

Better safe than sorry: one always closed the eyes - so you better made two shots.



Doppelt hält besser: einer hat immer die Augen zu.

Wir besuchen den Prominenten-Friedhof La Recoleta. Durch unseren Besuch auf dem Friedhof in Porto während unserer Reise auf der KONINGSDAM 2016 wussten wir bereits, wie die Friedhöfe in diesem Kulturkreis angelegt sind. Er gilt als einer schönsten Friedhöfe der Welt. Daher gibt es eine Menge zu Bestaunen: z. B. das Grab von Rufina Cambacérès, die im Alter von 19 lebendig begraben wurde. Oder die Statue der 26-jährigen Liliana Crociati de Szaszak und ihrem Hund Sabú, die bei einem Lawinenunglück in Innsbruck verstarb. Heute soll es Glück bringen, wenn man die Nase des Hundes streichelt. Auch sehr beeindruckend: das Grab des ehemaligen Präsidenten Domingo Faustino Sarmiento (siehe Segelschul- und Museumsschiff PRESIDENTE SARMIENTO in Puerto Madero). In seiner Amtszeit wurde die Alphabetisierung des Landes vorangetrieben.



We visited the Celebrity Cemetery La Recoleta. Due to our visit to a cemetery in Porto, Portugal on our voyage on KONINGSDAM 2016, we already knew, how cemeteries were designed in those part of the cultural world. It counted to the most beautiful cemeteries of the world. So we had a lot to discover: like the graveyard of Rufina Cambacérès, who was buried alive in the age of 19. Or the statue of the 26-years-old Liliana Crociati de Szaszak and her dog Sabú, who passed away when they had an avalanche ill. It should give you luck if you touch the nose of the dog. It was also impressive to see the graveyard of the former President Domingo Faustino Sarmiento (see sail-training- and museum-ship PRESIDENTE SARMIENTO in Puerto Madero). While he was active, he forced the alphabetization of the country.

And that was still popular: the tomb of the Duarte Family, where they were keeping high the memories on Evita, and so there were a lot of visitors here to honor her. Inofficially, she was buried at a different safe place, as she was not buried here for 17 years but in Italy.



Und immer noch sehr populär: die Gruft der Familie Duarte, in der auch die Erinnerung von Evita hochgehalten wird und auch jetzt sind immer noch eine Menge Menschen hier, um sie zu verehren. Inoffiziell ist sie jedoch an einem anderen Ort in Sicherheit vergraben, da sie aufgrund der politischen Verhältnisse auch 17 Jahre gar nicht hier begraben war, sondern in Italien.

Vorbei geht es an La Bombonera - dem Heimatstation des Fussballvereins Boca Juniors.

Die Gelb-blaue Vereinsfarbe kommt von dem schwedischen Schiff, das als erste in den Hafen einlief, als die Vereinsfarben festgelegt werden sollte.



The yellow-blue colors of the club came from a Swedish ship, which arrived first the port when they selected the colors of the club.

Unfortunately, we had no time to leave.



Zum Aussteigen haben wir leider keine Zeit.

Eigentlich suchen wir ein Café, aber gegen 18:00 Uhr schließt so ziemlich alles im Viertel La Boca, das sich rund um den alten Hafen am Fluß Rio Matanza-Riachuelo gebildet hat. Sogar in der Fussgängerzone Caminito.



Actually, we were looking for a café, but around 18:00 hrs everything was closing in the La Boca quarter which was formed around the old port at the Rio Matanza-Riachuelo River. Even in the pedestrian zone of Caminito.

A few little activities, we could observe in the old port.



Einige wenige Aktivitäten im alten Hafen können wir beobachten.

Aber irgendwie haben wir Durst und wollen nur etwas trinken.



But somehow we were only thirsty and wanted to have something to drink.

We went into La Perla de Caminito without further ado to have a drink. It was entirely under the control of Boca Juniors. Here you could also get some German Beer (Warsteiner)! At the entrance, you found paintings of Diego Maradona (twice 2-years contract with Boca Juniors) and Lionel Messi (who has never played for Boca Juniors).



Kurzerhand gehen wir kurz in La Perla de Caminito rein, um hier etwas zu trinken. Alles in der Hand der Boca Juniors. Hier gäbe es sogar Warsteiner! Am Eingang prangen die Bilder von Diego Maradona (zwei zweijährige Verträge mit Boca Juniors) und Lionel Messi (der allerdings nie für Boca Juniors gespielt hat).

Nach dem wir wieder im Hotel abgesetzt wurden, trennen sich unsere Wege. Sigi, Frances, Bruno und ich folgen der Empfehlung, die ich von einem Einheimischen bekommen habe. Wir müssen daher wieder zurück Richtung Segelschulschiff PRESIDENTE SARMIENTO. Unterwegs sehen wir ein Riesen-Eis-am-Stiel, das Frances gerne Eddie mitgebracht hätte. Und wir kommen auch am Kirchner Kultur-Zentrum vorbei: das größte Südamerikas. Gerne hätten wir die Kuppel besucht, aber wir sind doch froh, dass wir schnell zum Hotel zurückkommen. Da wir zu Fuß unterwegs sind: viele Seitenstraßen sind sehr still und dunkel und unsere Straße, an der unser Hotel liegt, beherbergt auch viele Obdachlose, die sich es unter den Arkaden häuslich machen. Unterwegs bekomme ich noch ein bisschen mehr Geld aus dem Geldautomaten. Mehr ging nicht mehr durch den Ausgabeschlitz.



After we were dropped off at the hotel, our ways separated. Sigi, Frances, Bruno and I followed a recommendation of a local contact. So we had to walk back to the sail-training-ship PRESIDENTE SARMIENTO. On our way, we saw a giant popsicle. Frances would love to take it back for Eddie. And we passed the Kirchner Culture Center: the largest in South America. We loved to visit the dome, but we were happy to get back to our hotel as fast as possible. Since we were walking: many side-streets were very silent and dark and the road, our hotel was located on. Also, a lot of homeless people were living under the arcades. But I could get some money from the ATM. But not more, since it did not fit through the money slot.

Cabaña Las Lilas - more or less around the corner of the sail-training-ship PRESIDENTE SARMIENTO was the recommendation of my local contact. We should wait 45 minutes for a vacant table. But all the restaurants around were more or less empty. So we took seats at the bar. We could not even cheer to each other when they paged us for a beautiful table on the terrace of the riverside. We experienced fantastic service and excellent food. A visit which made a lot of pleasure.



Cabaña Las Lilas - quasi um die Ecke vom Segelschulschiff PRESIDENTE SARMIENTO ist die Empfehlung eines Einheimischen. Wir hätten 45 Minuten auf einen freien Tisch warten sollen. Aber alle andere Restaurants drum herum sind quasi leer. Also setzen wir uns an die Bar. Uns gelingt es aber noch nicht einmal anzustoßen, als wir schon an einen schönen Tisch auf der Terrasse zur Flussseite hin, gebeten werden. Toller Service und sehr gutes Essen. Ein Besuch, der sehr viel Spaß gemacht hat.
