Tag/Day 6 auf der/on NORWEGIAN JADE in Katakolo, Greece

Wieder Papier für Werbung! Aber auch Papier für die Ausschiffung und für das Tendern. Endlich eben so, wie ich es bisher gewohnt bin: als VIP und nicht als Gelb. Und noch die Aufforderung zum Testen zu Kommen. Sigi soll in die Spinnaker Lounge aber uns teilt man mit, dass sie mit uns zusammen in den Haven Courtyard kommen soll. Bulgari Duschgel/Shampoo kommen, allerdings weiß ich wieder nicht, ob ich mich so richtig darüber freuen soll: weil ich a) zwei Mal fragen musste, und b) weil es in Mengen kommt, bei denen ich nicht weiß, ob sie es aufrichtig meinen, um mir eine Freude zu bereiten. Aber ich mache mir keine weiteren Gedanken dazu. Noch zwei Tage und wir sind von Bord und ich freue mich wieder auf Cunard, HAL, Princess und sogar Celebrity. Das letzte Mal, als ich nach Duschgel/Shampoo fragte war auf der CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM 2014 und damals kam auch nicht so die Reaktion, wie ich sie erwartet hätte und seit dem waren wir nicht mehr Celebrity unterwegs.

Die Matrosen arbeiten schon seit Stunden auf den offenen Decks, damit wir es morgens hier schön haben.

There are two surprises: one of ours for Donna, whose birthday is today, and we serenade her, and she gets a present for us. And a surprise from us: we know Santosh from NORWEGIAN SKY 2015, and he was our waiter at the chef's table there. Today he is Assistant Maître D'.



Es gibt zwei Überraschungen: eine für Donna von uns, die heute Geburtstag hat. Wir singen ein Ständchen für sie und sie bekommt ein Geschenk für uns. Und eine Überraschung von uns: Santosh kennen wir von der NORWEGIAN SKY 2015. Er war dort unser Kellner beim Chef's Table. Heute ist er Assistant Maître D'.

17:30 Uhr müssen wir wieder im Hafen sein. Groß ist der Hafen nicht. Er hat einen Duty Free Shop, den auch die Crew besuchen darf.

Wir gehen durch den Ort. Allerdings haben viele Geschäfte schon geschlossen, und die meisten schließen dann auch wieder bevor überhaupt die meisten Ausflügler aus Olympia zurück sind. Wenn man also einkaufen will, dann am Besten gleich morgens. Larry aus den USA kennen wir von unserer Reise auf der NORWEGIAN DREAM 2008 und VEENDAM 2019. Sein Großmutter stammt aus Kalamata und von dort soll das beste Olivenöl der Welt kommen. Ich nehme davon auch ein wenig mit. Für unseren nächsten Anlauf in Kalamata plane ich mal einen Besuch dort. Auch sind Gürtel hier immer sehr günstig zu kaufen. Die Tüte passt irgendwie zu mir.



We go through the place. However, many shops have already closed, and most then shut again before most day-trippers returned from Olympia, Greece. So if you want to go shopping, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. We know Larry from the USA from our trip on the NORWEGIAN DREAM 2008 and VEENDAM 2019. His grandmother comes from Kalamata, Greece, and the best olive oil in the world is said to go from there. I take a little bit of that with me. For our next attempt in Kalamata, I plan to visit there. Belts are always very cheap to buy here, and the bag somehow suits me.

We climb up the hill: quite steep, and I have to catch my breath. We hike a little through the hilly landscape and enjoy nature.



Wir klettern auf den Hügel hoch: ganz schön steil. Ich muss nach Luft schnappen. Wir wandern ein wenig durch die Hügellandschaft und genießen die Natur.

Oben auf dem Hügel ist das Café Meltemi. Genau der richtige Ort, um eine Pause zu machen und bei schönstem Sonnenschein die Aussicht zu genießen.

Im weiteren Verlauf unserer Wanderung stoßen wir auf viele Blumen und Tiere.



As we continued our hike, we came across many flowers and animals.

There is a small lighthouse on the way.



Auf dem Weg liegt ein kleiner Leuchtturm.

Rein dürfen wir leider nicht, da es militärisches Sperrgelände ist.



Unfortunately, we are not allowed in because it is a restricted military area.

The picture gives an idea of the view we would have from above if we could see the other side of the headland.



Das Bild lässt den Anblick erahnen, den wir von oben hätten, wenn wir auf die andere Seite der Landzunge von oben gucken könnten.

Ob wohl wir Schilder zum Strand entdecken: so einen richtigen Strand entdecken wir auf der Landzunge nicht. Es ist trotzdem schön zwischen all den Pflanzen, den Klippen, das Wasser und dem Klärwerk.



Although we discover signs of the beach: we don't find an actual beach on the headland. It's still beautiful among all the plants, the cliffs, the water, and the sewage treatment plant.

As usual, we go to Jimmy's Taverna again: We were here for the first time when we sailed with the RYNDAM 2013 and later again with the NORWEGIAN JADE 2014 (1). So we know Despina's cooking skills and always enjoy coming here. She is happy about our visit, and we get an ouzo as a small gift. Of course, we also had a knack for Despina.



Wie üblich gehen wir wieder zu Jimmy's Taverna essen: Wir waren erstmalig hier als wir mit der RYNDAM 2013 unterwegs waren und später nochmals mit der NORWEGIAN JADE 2014 (1). Daher kennen wir die Kochkünste von Despina und kommen immer wieder gerne hierher. Sie freut sich über unseren Besuch und wir bekommen Ouzo als kleines Geschenk. Natürlich hatten wir für Despina auch ein Geschenk.

Damals sind wir mit der Bahn von Katakolo nach Olympia gefahren. Ich wollte mal sehen, ob die Bahn noch existiert.



At that time, we took the train from Katakolo to Olympia. I wanted to see if the railway still exists.

Indeed, I find the train station again.



In der Tat finde ich den Bahnhof wieder.

Der Fahrplan wurde allerdings sehr ausgedünnt.

Wieder zurück an Bord, bietet mir Telekom folgende Pässe an: das ist echt günstig geworden. Früher haben wir in jedem Land eine neue SIM-Karte gekauft.

Unsere Einladung zum Testen kommt dann auch. Wir gehen schnell zum Haven Courtyard und nach ein paar Minuten sind wir wieder raus.

We're going to have another look at the Garden Café: Grill Extravaganza. The selection is excellent, but the right kick: e.g., Unfortunately, there is no such thing as grilled lobster.

We watch the set sail. The sun goes down quickly, so it will soon be dark.



Wir gucken beim Auslaufen zu. Die Sonne geht schnell unter, so dass es bald dunkel ist.

An Bord muss wohl ein Englischlehrer sein. Warum kann man nicht einfach an der Rezeption Bescheid geben?

There are even corrections.



Es gibt sogar Korrekturen.

Mich nervt, dass keine Karten mit den alkoholfreien Cocktails abrufbar sind. Ich entscheide mich lieber, wenn ich mitlesen kann und so entdecke ich auch einen neuen Cocktail, der mir bislang nicht genannt wurde und den ich noch nicht kenne.



It annoys me that no menus with non-alcoholic cocktails are available, and I prefer to decide if I can read along, and that's how I discover a new cocktail that I haven't been told yet and that I don't know yet.

Even very tasty with freshly brewed tea.

Abends geht es wieder in Le Bistro zum Essen. Es hat uns hier gutgefallen. Wir bitten wieder um einen Tisch mit Kimberly. Eine gute Entscheidung!



In the evening, we go back to Le Bistro for dinner. We liked it here, and we requested a table with Kimberly again. A good decision!
