Ich habe für 89,00 USD ein Upgrade des Internets bezahlt: unbegrenzt und schnell. Die Übertragung der Bilder funktioniert nicht. Die Leitungen sind zu schlecht. Es ist mitten in der Nacht.



I paid 89.00 USD to upgrade the internet: unlimited and fast. The transfer of the images does not work, and the lines are bad. It's the middle of the night.

I do my walk a mile, so I enjoy the morning on the open deck.



Ich mache mein Walk a Mile und so genieße ich den Morgen auf dem offenen Deck.

I find a ship card, but I don't feel like going to deck seven at sunrise for the reception. So I wanted to let them know that I found the card, but unfortunately, I didn't want to come straight away. It did not work. There were no phone numbers on the phone, and that's why I thought dialing 911 was exaggerated. When I later tell the ship's management that the telephone numbers are missing on the devices, they probably only note it. They did nothing until the end of the cruise.



Ich finde eine Bordkarte, aber ich habe keine Lust jetzt während des Sonnenaufgangs an die Rezeption auf Deck 7 zu gehen. Also wollte ich Bescheid geben, dass ich die Karte gefunden habe, aber leider jetzt nicht sofort kommen möchte. Es ging nicht. Es standen keine Telefonnummern an dem Telefon. Deswegen den Notruf 911 zu wählen fand ich doch übertrieben. Als ich es später der Schiffsleitung erzähle, dass die Telefonnummern an den Apparaten fehlt, wird es wohl nur zur Kenntnis genommen. Bis zum Ende der Cruise wurde nichts unternommen.

Irgendwie gibt es auf dem Bildschirm keine Informationen.

I'll hand over the card. Maybe they'll give the guest who lost it a lanyard with a case. The stupid thing: RFID doesn't work on the cash register systems: you always have to take the card out of the cover to pay.



Die Karte gebe ich ab. Vielleicht spendieren sie ja dem Gast, der es verloren hat, auch ein Lanyard mit Etui. Das Blöde: RFID funktioniert an den Kassensystemen nicht: man muss immer die Karte fürs Bezahlen aus dem Etui rausholen.

Unterwegs treffe ich den Concierge, der mir persönlich erklärt, was er für mich tun kann. Also alles, was hätte in dem Brief von ihm stehen müssen. Aber er hätte es gar nicht tun müssen: es ist ein alter Bekannter, der gestern mit uns in Piräus zugestiegen ist: Bruno, den wir von der NORWEGIAN JADE 2014 (2) kennen. Er wusste nun, dass ich an Bord bin und er weiß, wie ich es gerne habe.



On the way, I meet the concierge, who personally explains what he can do for me. So everything that should have been in the letter from him. But he didn't have to do it: it's an old acquaintance who boarded with us in Piraeus yesterday: Bruno, whom we know from the NORWEGIAN JADE 2014 (2). He now knew I was on board, and he knew how I liked it.

Von der MSC MAGNIFICA 2021 konnte ich die SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE in Split beim Einlaufen zusehen. Und hier habe ich wieder Glück: ich sehe der SPIRIT OF DISCOVERY zu, wie sie hier in Mykonos ankommt. Sie muss allerdings tendern und kommt dafür direkt im Zentrum an. Das Glück hatten wir damals auf der NORWEGIAN JADE 2011 (2): damals durften wir in Split und Dubrovnik jeweils direkt in die Zentren tendern. Ich wollte ja immer auf die SAGA RUBY (ehemaliges ZDF-Traumschiff VISTAFJORD), aber damals war ich zu jung. Nun habe ich kein Interesse an den Saga Schiffen mehr.



From MSC MAGNIFICA 2021, I watched the SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE arriving in Split, Croatia. And here I am lucky again: I observe SPIRIT OF DISCOVERY coming here in Mykonos, Greece. However, she has to tender and arrives directly in the center. Back then, we were lucky on NORWEGIAN JADE 2011 (2): we were then allowed to tender to the centers in Split and Dubrovnik. I always wanted to be on the SAGA RUBY (former German TV-"Love Boat" VISTAFJORD), but I was too young at the time. Now I have no more interest in the Saga ships.

Since we don't like the coffee in the main restaurant, we bring our filter coffee with us: in practical Drip Coffee Bag disposable filters for on the go from Reinholz in Fulda, Germany. I happened to see it in a Facebook post by another NCL Cruisers. I spoke to Donna the night before: She's in charge of special requests. So I ordered Congee in advance. With fresh coriander. Yummy. They always prepare a fruit platter for us and some types of bread, which German guests appreciate. We know Frenz from yesterday at O'Sheehans. We still know Sipriana from the NORWEGIAN GETAWAY 2017. Of course, she gets for her warm "Welcome Back onboard, Mr. Tien!" some chocolate too. She was very nice to us back then, and we haven't forgotten that.



Da wir den Kaffee im Hauptrestaurant nicht mögen, bringen wir unseren Filter-Kaffee mit: in praktischen Drip Coffee Bag Einweg-Filtern für unterwegs von Reinholz in Fulda. Ich habe es zufällig in einem Facebook-Beitrag eines anderen NCL-Kreuzfahrers gesehen. Ich hatte am Vorabend mit Donna gesprochen: Sie ist für die Sonderwünsche zuständig. So habe ich vorab Congee bestellt. Mit frischem Korriander. Lecker. Für uns bereiten sie immer auch schon eine Obstplatte vor und einige Brotsorten, die man als deutsche Gäste schätzt. Frenz kennen wir von gestern im O'Sheehans. Sipriana kennen wir noch von der NORWEGIAN GETAWAY 2017. Natürlich bekommt sie für ihr herzliches "Welcome Back onboard Mr. Tien!" auch etwas Schokolade. Sie war damals sehr nett zu uns und das haben wir nicht vergessen.

Der neue Hafen mit Kreuzfahrtpier liegt 4 km von der Altstadt entfernt.

17:30 Uhr müssen wir wieder an Bord sein.

Unser Führer Antonis Pothitos von Delosguide hat für uns alles vorbereitet.

He postponed the end of the season, especially for us, and is leading the last tour of the season today. On 10/31, the season will end.



Er hat extra auf uns noch sein Saisonende nach hinten verschoben und führt heute die letzte Tour der Saison. Am 31.10. wird die Saison beendet.

Daher war es nicht schwer ihn zu identifizieren. Mehr Führer warteten nicht auf andere private Gruppen. Antonis hatte uns empfohlen möglichst früh von Bord zu kommen, weil er ein sehr umfangreiches Programm vorbereitet hat. Es ist teurer als jeder Ausflug an Bord, aber wir sind nur zu dritt und können sehr viel sehen und vor allem, an Bord war nur das eine ODER das andere möglich, aber wir hätten an Bord zwei Touren buchen müssen, um alles abzudecken, was wir sehen.

There is a bus shuttle into town. But Antonis got us tickets for the Sea Bus, and he already got us tickets for the return trip. For me, as a shipspotter, the "rest" is just an encore: my day is already absolutely perfect after 30 minutes.



Es gibt einen Bus-Shuttle in die Stadt. Aber Antonis hat uns Karten für den Sea Bus besorgt. Für die Rückfahrt hat er uns schon Karten besorgt. Für mich als Shipspotter ist der "Rest" nur noch Zugabe: mein Tag ist bereits nach 30 Minuten schon absolut perfekt.

So bekomme ich noch schöne Außenaufnahmen von der NORWEGIAN JADE.

Due to the approach on the waterside, we experience a very nice ride into the city.



Durch die Anfahrt auf der Wasserseite erleben wir eine sehr schöne Fahrt in die Stadt.

Zunächst machen wir einen Stadtrundgang durch die Gassen der Stadt Mykonos. Sehr schön: Die berühmten Windmühlen.



First, we do a city tour through the city streets of Mykonos. Charming: The famous windmills.

Time for the 2nd breakfast: we stop at a bakery that bakes according to artisanal tradition but sounds Italian (Il Forno di Gerasimo) to take something with us on the way.



Zeit für das 2. Frühstück: in einer Bäckerei, die nach Handwerkstradition backt, aber italienisch klingt (Il Forno di Gerasimo) machen wir einen Stopp, um etwas für unterwegs mitzunehmen.

Wir laufen wieder zurück zum alten Hafen.



We walk back to the old port.

A ferry takes you to Delos, Germany. Antonis is the first to leave the ship to get us the tickets for the archaeological sites. Then it goes to the former settlement part of the island. We learn a lot. Antonis even brought a small bucket and rope to demonstrate how clear and deep the water is here.



Mit einer Fähre geht es rüber nach Delos. Antonis verlässt als erster das Schiff, um für uns die Eintrittskarten für die Archäologischen Stätten zu besorgen. Dann geht es in den ehemaligen Siedlungsteil der Insel. Wir erfahren sehr viel. Antonis hat sogar einen kleinen Eimer und ein Seil mit, um zu demonstrieren, wie klar und tief hier das Wasser ist.

In dem anderen Teil, in dem die Tempelanlagen waren, muss man schon sehr viel Vorstellungskraft haben. Das ist auch sehr viel weitläufiger und auch ist das Museum auch derzeit geschlossen. So nutzen wir auch die Zeit bis dass die Fähre uns wieder zurückbringt für eine kurze Rast. Es ist doch sehr warm: wir haben Anfang November! Nach dem wir wieder in Mykonos zurück sind, verabschiedet sich Antonis von uns, da er heute noch abreist und noch seine Fähre erreichen muss. Für ist damit die Saison beendet.



In the other part, where the temple complexes were, you have to have a lot of imagination. This is also much more extensive, and the museum is also currently closed. So we use the time until the ferry takes us back for a short break. It's hot: it's the beginning of November! After we are back in Mykonos, Antonis says goodbye to us because he is leaving today and still has to catch his ferry. The season is over for him.

Mykonos is also very popular with gays. Bar Jackie O. is already closed for this season.

Wenn Engel reisen: strahlend blauer Himmel.

Uns wird nahegelegt, dass wir im Katarina's essen sollen: Es liegt in Klein Venedig und hier gibt es wirklich einen traumhaften Ausblick. Für den zahlen wir auch entsprechend. Untypisch für Griechenland: kleine Portionen für viel Geld - andererseits: wir sind auf einer Insel und nicht in Athen. Wie gesagt: man bezahlt für den Anblick von dem kleinen Balkon auf die Windmühlen.



We're told to eat at Katarina's: it's in Little Venice, and the view is truly gorgeous. We pay accordingly for that. Atypical for Greece: small portions for a lot of money - on the other hand: we are on an island and not in Athens, Greece. As I said: you pay for the view of the windmills from the small balcony.

Back on board, there is a pack of lactose-free milk exclusively for me at the Java Café.



Zurück an Bord gibt steht eine Packung laktosefreie Milch exklusiv für mich am Java Café.

Das einzig positive, dass ich den Einwegverpackungen von Starbucks abgewinnen kann: die Crew schreibt mir immer etwas nettes auf die Becher.



The only positive thing about Starbucks disposable packaging is that the crew always writes something nice on the cups.

I'm fortunate with the crew: Realyn and Vivolin (who know me from NORWEGIAN JADE 2018) treat me very nicely when I'm suddenly uncreditworthy. They quickly blocked our boarding passes for further sales. We learn that the reader in the terminal in Piraeus probably had problems and that the pre-authorization is gone. Instead of being asked to speak to reception when boarding the ship or leaving a message in the cabin by telephone or in writing, we thought: the customer will find out for himself if he doesn't get anything anymore. I found the situation quite uncomfortable. Vivolin gave me the drink without further ado and said: "Drink it and calm down. Then go to reception and when your card works again, come back, and we can catch up." - If there's anything I appreciate: it's really the "basic" NCL crew members, who are all very "special" in their way and make me feel great as a guest.



Mit der Crew habe ich wirklich Glück: Realyn und Vivolin (die mich von der NORWEGIAN JADE 2018 her kennt) behandeln mich sehr nett, als ich auf einmal kreditunwürdig bin. Sie haben kurzerhand unsere Bordkarten für weiteren Umsatz gesperrt. Wir erfahren, dass wohl das Lesegerät im Terminal in Piräus Probleme hatte und daher die Vorauthorisierung weg ist. Statt, dass wir beim Betreten des Schiffes gebeten werden bei der Rezeption vorzusprechen oder eine Nachricht telefonisch oder schriftlich in der Kabine hinterlegt wurde, hat man sich gedacht: der Kunde wird es schon selbst merken, wenn er nichts mehr bekommt. Ich fand die Situation ziemlich unangenehm. Vivolin gab mir kurzerhand das Getränk und meinte: "Trinken Sie es und beruhigen Sie sich. Dann gehen Sie zur Rezeption und wenn Ihre Karte wieder funktioniert, kommen Sie nochmals vorbei und wir können das nachholen." - Wenn ich etwas schätze: dann wirklich die "einfachen" Crew-Mitglieder von NCL, die auf ihre Art doch alle sehr "speziell" sind und mir ein tolles Gefühl als Gast geben.

In der Kabine freuen wir uns über unsere Wäsche, die schon zurück ist. Ich freue mich THEORETISCH darüber, dass ich alles mögliche von Bulgari bekommen habe, aber eigentlich kaum etwas, von dem ich Nutzen habe. Das mag jetzt sehr undankbar klingen: mit Seife, Conditioner, Rückenschrubber und Duschhauben kann ich nicht wirklich etwas anfangen. Nur über die Body Lotion freue ich mich. Auch freue ich mich darüber, dass wir zumindest den Sekt gegen Wasser tauschen konnten. Wenigstens hat das geklappt. Es ist einfach schade: frühere Selbstverständlichkeiten gibt es eben nicht mehr. Und selbst wenn man fragt: man bekommt es nicht. Es ist nicht mehr die Philosophie, die ich mal bei NCL geschätzt habe: man musste nie fragen!



We are happy about our laundry in the cabin, which is already back. I'm so glad THEORETICALLY that I got everything possible from Bulgari, but actually hardly anything that I use. Now that might sound ungrateful: soap, conditioner, back scrubbers, and shower caps aren't really my thing. I'm only happy about the body lotion. I am also pleased that we were at least able to exchange the sparkling wine for water. At least that worked. It's just a pity: things we took for granted in the past no longer exist. And even if you ask: you don't get it. It's no longer the philosophy I used to appreciate at NCL: you never had to ask!

With the additional restaurants, it's always up and down. Today we're lucky in Le Bistro: it's currently on the up. We will even come back here again during the cruise. Rowena is running the restaurant tonight, and we have a very charming waitress in Kimberly. As part of our cruise, we can eat twice in the additional restaurant (3-course menu, possibly with a surcharge for high-priced products: e.g., my lobster). But we have to pay the service charges for this. It was worth it today.



Mit den Zuzahlrestaurants ist es ja immer ein Auf und Ab. Heute haben wir in Le Bistro Glück: es ist derzeit auf dem aufsteigenden Ast. Wir kommen sogar im Laufe der Kreuzfahrt ein weiteres Mal hierher. Rowena leitet heute Abend das Restaurant und mit Kimberly haben wir eine sehr charmante Bedienung. Im Rahmen unserer Kreuzfahrt dürfen wir zwei Mal im Zuzahlrestaurant essen (3-Gang-Menü ggfls. mit Aufpreis für hochpreisige Produkte: z. B. mein Hummer). Dafür müssen wir aber die Service Charges entrichten. Es hat sich heute gelohnt.
