Tag/Day 0C auf dem Weg/on the way to NORWEGIAN SUN in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil - Buenos Aires, Argentina

Wieder Frühstück im Ibis Hotel. Ich komme damit gut klar. Da gestern die großen Supermärkte alle zu hatten, fahren wir zunächst noch bei einem vorbei, um noch mehr Pão de queijo-Backmischungen zu kaufen. Zum Glück dürfen wir mit LATAM 2 x 23 kg mitnehmen.



Again breakfast at the Ibis Hotel. It worked fine with me. Since all of the major supermarkets were closed, we quickly went to one to buy more of the Pão de queijo-Baking mix. We were lucky that LATAM allowed 2 x 50 lbs. checked baggage.

We also used the chance to stop at Loumar Tourismo to collect my walking sticks, which I left the day before in the vehicle of Pele. Since he had to get his mini-bus to maintenance, our driver of the day was Leo.



Wir nutzen die Gelegenheit kurz bei Loumar Turismo zu halten, um meine Walking Sticks zu holen, die ich gestern im Fahrzeug von Pele vergaß. Da er mit dem Wagen zur Werkstatt muss, ist unser heutiger Fahrer Leo.

Bei der Gelegenheit kann ich mich auch bei Gessani bedanken, die alles für uns so toll organisiert hat.



I also needed to thank Gessani for all great arrangements, she was booking for us.

Now we went for the Brazilian side of the Iguazu Fall National Park. While we waited for Marlene, we could see the historical pictures. As they had no park railways here and they wanted to restrict the individual motorist traffic too, you had to take a bus shuttle. But tour groups were allowed to enter with their own vehicle. So we could board later into our bus and do not need to use the bus-shuttle.



Nun fahren wir zur brasilianischen Seite des Nationalparks Iguazu Wasserfälle. Während wir auf Marlene warten, können wir uns können wir uns historische Bilder ansehen. Da es hier keine Parkeisenbahn gibt und man den motorisierten Individualverkehr ebenfalls beschränken wollte, muss man hier einen Bus-Shuttle nehmen. Aber Reisegruppen dürfen mit ihrem Fahrzeug reinfahren. So dürfen uns später wieder in unser Fahrzeug einsteigen und brauchen nicht mit dem Bus-Shuttle weiter reinzufahren.

Auf der Höhe des Belmond Hotels Das Cataratas werden wir rausgelassen. Marlene empfiehlt uns das nächste Mal zumindest eine Nacht hier zu übernachten, weil man dann abends und morgens den Nationalpark für sich hat und tolle Fotos machen kann. Hier gibt es nur einen Weg in einer Richtung, um die Schönheit der argentischen Seite der Wasserfälle von Iguazu zu sehen. Unterwegs wird man immer wieder von Coatis gestoppt, aber einen Geparden sehen wir trotz Warntafel nicht.



On the latitude of the Belmond Hotels Das Cataratas we were released. Marlene recommended us to stay at least one night here the next time so you would have the National Park in the evening and in the early morning just for you exclusively to take great pictures. Here they only had one way toward one direction to see the beauty of the Argentinian side of the Iguazu Falls. On our way, there were a few coatis which were stopping us, but we did not meet any cheetah, although the signs warned us.

We could see the Devil's Throat again but honestly: to risk another camera, it was too dangerous for me. I did not walk so far. On the Argentinian side the visitors spread out over a broader range and the day before it was New Year's Day and so everyone was sleeping longer.



Wir könnten wieder zu dem Teufelsrachen, aber ganz ehrlich: noch eine Kamera zu riskieren, ist mir dann doch zu gefährlich. Ich laufe nicht ganz so weit. Auf der argentischen Seite verteilt sich das ganze viel schöner und vor allem gestern war Neujahrstag und alle haben erstmal ausgeschlafen.

Es ist einfach umwerfend: ohne Selfies geht es nicht.



It was so staggeringly: without selfies it did not work.

For lunch, we stopped at the Restaurant Porto Canoas which was part of the National Park. It was not so rich in meat like the other restaurants, we visited before, but it was also delicious.



Mittags essen wir im Nationalpark im Restaurant Porto Canoas. Es ist jetzt nicht so fleischlastig, wie die letzten Mahlzeiten, aber auch sehr gut.

Noch einmal verlassen wir Brasilien über die Brücke.



One more time, we crossed the bridge to leave Brazil.

And we reached Argentina. Marlene was taking care of our passport inspection. She also explained to the customs officers that we were harmless tourists and so they waived an intensive baggage inspection at the border.



Und wir erreichen Argentinien. Die Passkontrolle erledigt Marlene für uns. Sie erklärt auch dem Zollbeamten, dass wir harmlose Touristen sind und auf eine aufwändige Kontrolle des Gepäcks an der Grenze wird verzichtet.

Am Flughafen Puerto Iguazu in Argentinien verabschiedet sich Marlene von uns. Loumar Turismo und Marlene haben die Messlatte sehr hoch gelegt. Wenn das so weiter geht, dass wird das ein perfekter Urlaub. Der Abschied fällt sehr herzlich aus. Wenn alles in Brasilien so läuft, wie Loumar Turismo und Marlene uns gezeigt haben, dann dürfte es nicht allzu schwer fallen, gerne wieder nach Brasilien zu kommen. Nur ist leider Loumar Turismo ein lokaler Anbieter.



At the Airport Puerto Iguazu in Argentina, Marlene bid farewell to us. Loumar Tourismo and Marlene set the bar for the service level very high. If it continued at the same level, it would become a perfect vacation. Saying good-bye was extremely cordial. If in Brazil everything would work like Loumar Turismo and Marlene, it would not be too difficult for us to decide on another vacation in Brazil. Unfortunately, Loumar Tourismo was a local operator.

Leider hat dieser Flughafen nicht viel zu bieten. Ein Selbstbedienungsrestaurant: leider wird es nicht besonders effizient aufgeräumt.



Unfortunately, the airport did not have a lot to offer. A self-service restaurant: unfortunately, they did not clean it very efficiently.

We bought the last bottles of water they had on stock.



Wir kaufen das letzte Wasser in Flaschen auf.

Bald gibt es nur noch Wasser im Becher aus dem Wasserspender.



Soon, you could only buy water cup-wise from the water dispenser.

At least, they had electric power.



Zumindest gibt es Strom.

Empanada ist immer gut.

Due to missing alternatives, they had apparently a show in the ladies' room. Everyone came out loud laughing like here Rossita.



Mangels Alternativen gibt es wohl Show in der Damentoilette. Alle kommen so lachend raus, wie hier Rossita.

Wir sehen, dass das Flugzeug, mit dem wir nach Buenos Aires fliegen sollen, gerade erst in Buenos Aires gestartet ist.



We could see that the plane, which should take us to Buenos Aires, just started now in Buenos Aires.

That was, why we get out so late.



Dementsprechend kommen wir auch so spät weg.

Unsere Maschine ist da. Es gibt aber quasi nur einen Ausgang, der immer erst geöffnet wird, wenn die Maschine da ist.

Und eine weitere Verspätung.

Dieses Mal haben wir keine freie Mittelsitze, weil Club Südamerika für uns ausgerechnet hat, dass es für uns billiger ist, wenn sie diesen Abschnitt separat über einen Südamerika AirPass buchen.



That time, we did not have vacant middle seats, because our ticket office Club Südamerika calculated, that it would be cheaper if they would book this section separately on a South America AirPass.

They offered complimentary beverages.



Es gibt kostenlose Getränke.

Zum Kaffee gibt es keine Milch (weder flüssig noch als Pulver) an Bord. Die Zuckerpackung bröckelt auseinander. Deswegen muss man die Zuckertütchen innen mit Plastik auskleiden.



There was no milk available for coffee (neither liquid nor dry as powder) on board. The container of sugar started to disintegrate. That was why you need to have a plastic inlay in the bag of sugar.

Until we arrived in Buenos Aires, the weather became nicer, but it became already dark.



Bis dass wir in Buenos Aires ankommen, ist das Wetter wieder freundlicher, aber leider auch schon dunkel.

Unterwegs gibt es auch kostenlose Bordunterhaltung: nur braucht man dafür ein eigenes Mobilgerät und eine App.



During the flight you also had complimentary onboard entertainment: you only needed a mobile device of your own and an app.

The app also informed on our route we took on this flight. We by-passed the storm, and so the trip took a little longer.



Über den Verlauf des Fluges werden wir auf der App informiert. Das Unwetter wird umflogen und so dauert der Flug auch etwas länger.

In the Holiday Inn Express Puerto Madero, they offered a brilliant reception. Everything was perfectly prepared. Gabriela and Camila checked us so quickly in that we could get into our rooms instantly.



Im Holiday Inn Express Puerto Madero erwartet uns ein toller Empfang. Alles ist super vorbereitet. Gabriela und Camila checken uns so schnell ein, dass wir schnell auf unsere Zimmer können.

Ist ja ganz nett für ein Holiday Inn Express.



For a Holiday Inn Express it was quite nice.

They also had a lovely lobby.



Auch eine schöne Lobby.

Und man fühlt sich sehr sicher, da nicht jeder einfach reinkommt, um es sich hier gemütlich zu machen.



And you felt very safe since not everyone could just come it to make himself comfortable.

It was good that I asked already for their names. We got very quick a questionnaire, and they wanted to know how satisfied we were so far and what they could do to improve our stay. They should introduce it with every cruise.



Wie gut, dass ich bereits nach den Namen gefragt habe. Sehr schnell kam bereits ein Fragebogen, ob wir soweit zufrieden sind, oder noch etwas verbessert werden kann, um unseren Aufenhalt zu verbessern. Das sollte man eigentlich auf jeder Kreuzfahrt einführen.

Wir haben meine Punkte aus dem IHG Rewards Club eingesetzt. Einen kleinen Zuschlag haben wir bezahlt, damit wir ein Bild mit Blick auf den Fluss erhalten. Buenos Aires liegt nicht am Meer, sondern in der Mündung des Flusses Rio de La Plata. Man kann leider nicht schnell auf die andere Flussseite zum Fotografieren: der Fluss ist an dieser Stelle ca. 40 km breit.



We used my points from the IHG Rewards Club. We needed to pay a little surcharge to have a view of the river. Buenos Aires was not at sea but at the mouth of the River Rio de La Plata. It was only impossible to cross the river on the other river banks to take pictures: the river had a width of approx. 25 miles around this place.

In the 1st floor (English counting!) they offered breakfast. Off-breakfast time, you had the chance to buy here small bites.



In der 1. Etage gibt es Frühstück. Außerhalb der Frühstückszeiten, gibt es die Möglichkeit sich Kleinigkeiten hier zu besorgen.

Und Getränke. Alles trägt man auf eine Liste ein und wirft die Liste in einen Kasten.



And beverages. You all marked on a list and just dropped it into the box.

That should be another fellow-cruiser who was introduced to Sigi: Rossita's son Christian. We were too tired to go out.



Da ist wohl ein weiterer Mitreisender, der gerade Sigi vorgestellt wird: Rossitas Sohn Christian. Wir sind zu müde, um noch raus zu gehen.
