Schlussstrich / Final Line NORWEGIAN JADE

Bisher 29 x NCL seit 2007, davon 8 x auf der NORWEGIAN JADE. Mit dem Schiff verbinde ich sehr viele Crew-Mitglieder, die einen Fußabdruck bei mir hinterlassen haben. EINIGE WENIGE sind hier in der Dia-Show stellvertretend für diejenigen, die dafür sorgen, dass ich immer wieder gerne NCL gebucht habe und speziell NORWEGIAN JADE: Luiza, Carol, Chamopa, Messiah, Andrew, Elena, Vikesh, Ana-Maria, Aydin, Valentina, Gary, Maria, Ernesto, Armondo, Mahmut, Captain Kim, Philmore, Monica, Sang Made, Jill, Vesna, Shenny, Christine, Luis, Durrie, Admir, Deepa, Amor, Mily, Manalyn, Rosvy, Sherlene, Valeria, Jean-Michel, Seepa, Bruno, Captain Michael, Joyce, Daniela, Sebastian, Omar, Vernessa, Subhash, Izaia, Furtosa, Carlos, Cheika, Petar, Suresh, Vivolin. Aber wie gesagt: es gibt noch sehr viele viele andere, denen ich auf der NORWEGIAN JADE begegnet bin und die für mich unvergesslich... Selbst wenn sie nicht mehr bei NCL sind, verbinde ich sie immer noch meinen schönen Erinnerungen auf der NORWEGIAN JADE - vor allem mit der Herzlichkeit und Fürsorglichkeit der Crew.



So far, 29 x NCL since 2007, 8 of them on the NORWEGIAN JADE. I associate a lot of crew members with the ship who have left a footprint on me. But as I said, I met many, many others on the NORWEGIAN JADE. All of them are unforgettable for me... Even if they are no longer with NCL, I still associate them with my beautiful memories on the NORWEGIAN JADE - especially with the warmth and care of the crew.

I remember my primary school student, Mrs. Pannen, and her husband, who bought a suite and were pampered. We tried a prepaid credit card to save on conversion fees. In the middle of the meal, she was banned without notice. We'll never use them again for a cruise. Hans-Hermann and Carmen "triggered" us at Cagney's. We helped two friends who needed three cabins to a super offer: they got the Garden Villa, and we got to see it. Because I am nice to the crew, I get an invitation to use the spa for free. I miss great meals in additional restaurants with trolley service (antipasti and cheese). Does anyone still remember the Mexican alternative dining venue Piniolo? My most significant cruisecritic.com meet & greet is in the Spinnaker Lounge. For this, I got a captain's hat from my fellow travelers. But we also meet a lot of people from kreuzfahrten-treff.de. A big surprise came when They brought us (Katharina and Karl-Heinz) a cake with a serenade, and nobody had an occasion. The neighboring table later complained that they had not yet served the cake they had ordered. Our meeting with Captain Kim also allowed us to look behind the scenes. Also, the great Friends of Dorothy meetings, where we made a lot of lovely friendships. Andrew gave me his t-shirt so I would no longer advertise for the competition. I want to thank the hotel manager for this with a comment. We also get to know fellow international travelers here who consider me a friend and expand to my family when we visit them in the USA. I experience the most impressive driveways and a transfer right in front of the ship in Venice, Italy. Our parents were always treated the same as we were long-time guests of NCL. Armando thought it was so fantastic that we took our parents on trips: when he found out about it, we experienced a unique VIP service. To enjoy the charming service from Monica, the working schedule has been changed. "Charlie's Angels" with me at the center: Unforgettable thanks to Jill, Vesna, and Shenny. We are always happy that many friends are with us and quickly become friends: like Frances and Eddie from California with Angela, Thomas, and Ingrid from the Harz region in Germany. With the NORWEGIAN JADE, we experience great places like Dubrovnik or Istanbul. We remember these beautiful events and many more before the NORWEGIAN JADE is on for the 9th time. Unfortunately, it will not be as lovely as we have seen the NORWEGIAN JADE so far.



Ich erinnere mich an meine Grundschulerin Frau Pannen und ihrem Mann, die sich eine Suite geleistet haben und so verwöhnt wurden. Wir haben eine Prepaid-Kreditkarte ausprobiert, um Umrechnungsgebühren zu sparen. Mitten während der Mahlzeit wurde sie ohne Vorbenachrichtigung gesperrt. Nie wieder setzen wir sie für eine Kreuzfahrt ein. Hans-Hermann und Carmen haben uns im Cagney's "ausgelöst". Wir haben zwei Freunden die drei Kabinen gebraucht haben zu einem Super-Angebot verholfen: sie haben die Garden Villa bekommen und wir durften sie uns ansehen. Weil ich mich nett zur Crew verhalte, bekomme ich eine Einladung kostenlos das Spa zu benutzen. Ich vermisse tolle Mahlzeiten in Zuzahlrestaurant mit Trolley-Service (Antipasti und Käse). Erinnert sich jemand noch an das Piniolo? Mein größter cruisecritic.com-Meet & Greet in der Spinnaker Lounge. Dafür bekam ich eine Kapitäns Mütze von meinen Mitreisenden. Aber auch aus dem kreuzfahrten-treff.de treffen wir viele Bord. Eine große Überraschung kam als uns (Katharina und Karl-Heinz) eine Torte mit Ständchen gebracht wurde und niemand hatte einen Anlass. Der Nachbartisch hatte später beklagt, dass die Torte noch nicht serviert wurde, die von denen bestellt wurde. Unsere Begegnung mit Captain Kim, der uns auch die Möglichkeit gegeben hat, hinter die Kulissen zu gucken. Auch die tollen Friends of Dorothy-Treffen, auf denen wir viele nette Freundschaften geschlossen haben. Von Andrew bekam ich sein T-Shirt, damit ich nicht länger für die Konkurrenz Werbung laufe. Dafür bedanke ich mich mit einem Kommentar beim Hoteldirektor. Wir lernen hier auch internationale Mitreisende kennen, die nicht nur mich als Freund betrachten, sondern auch auf meine Familie erweitern, wenn wir sie in den USA besuchen. In Venedig erlebe ich die beeindruckendsten Einfahrten und einen Transfer direkt vor das Schiff. Unsere Eltern wurden immer genauso behandelt, wie wir als langjährige Gäste von NCL. Armando fand das so fantastisch, dass wir unsere Eltern auf Reisen mitnehmen: als er davon erfuhr, erfahren wir einen einzigartigen VIP-Service. Um den charmanten Service von Monica genießen zu können, wird der Dienstplan umgestellt. "Drei Engel für Charlie" mit mir im Mittelpunkt: Unvergessen dank Jill, Vesna und Shenny. Immer wieder freuen wir uns, dass uns viele Freunde begleiten und schnell Freunde werden: so wie Frances und Eddie aus Kalifornien mit Angela, Thomas und Ingrid aus dem Harz. Wir erleben mit der NORWEGIAN JADE tolle Orte, wie Dubrovnik oder Istanbul. Wir erinnern uns an diese schöne Ereignisse und viele mehr, bevor es jetzt zum 9. Mal auf die NORWEGIAN JADE geht. Es ist leider so, dass es nicht mehr so schön wird, wie wir bisher die NORWEGIAN JADE erlebt haben.

Tag/Day 8 auf der/on NORWEGIAN JADE in Piräus/Piraeus, Greece

Glück gehabt! Wir liegen am Terminal C. So kann ich perfekt die Ankunft der NORWEGIAN GETAWAY verfolgen. Mit ihr waren wir in der Ostsee unterwegs: NORWEGIAN GETAWAY 2017. Damals war noch ein Zustieg in Warnemünde möglich.



Lucky! We docked at Terminal C, so I can perfectly follow the arrival of NORWEGIAN GETAWAY. We were traveling with her in the Baltic Sea: NORWEGIAN GETAWAY 2017. At that time, it was still possible to board in Warnemünde, Germany.

Although I've been on board for a week: I get lost every time. Fortunately, our cabin is always on the signs. I really like the location right next to the elevators. Some bills come on paper. And we don't get any. It doesn't work with email either. We have to ask. I leave the things I don't need in the bathroom and send them back to the housekeeping manager. At home, I continue my travels... We still have MSC, Hapag-Lloyd, Cunard, and AIDA at home. But this way, I can travel with NCL again for a few minutes while showering at home.



Obwohl ich schon seit einer Woche an Bord: ich verlaufe mich jedes Mal. Zum Glück steht unsere Kabine immer auf den Schildern drauf. Ich mag mittlerweile die Lage direkt an den Fahrstühlen sehr. Es gibt Rechnungen die kommen auf Papier. Und wir bekommen keine. Mit der E-Mail klappt es irgendwie auch nicht. Wir müssen doch nachfragen. Die Sachen, die ich nicht brauche lasse ich im Bad und schicke sie an den Housekeeping Manager zurück. Zu Hause setze ich meine Reisen fort... MSC, Hapag-Lloyd, Cunard und AIDA haben wir noch im Haus. Aber so kann ich beim Duschen zu Hause nochmals kurz für ein paar Minuten auch wieder NCL mitfahren.

Sie sind schon wieder beim Renovieren.

Zufällig treffe ich Executive Chef Menino Luis und bedanke ich mich für die tolle Leistung. Ich fand das Essen im Hauptrestaurant richtig gut.

For the first time at Terminal C. The transfer buses and taxis arrive very early. However, most people do not know that the city center of Athens, Greece, is closed due to the marathon.



Zum ersten Mal am Terminal C. Schon sehr früh treffen die Transferbusse und Taxis ein. Die meisten wissen allerdings nicht: wegen Marathon ist die Innenstadt von Athen gesperrt.

Auch die VIKING SEA trifft noch ein. Sie wird am Terminal A abgefertigt.

Jade Hao: the good (NORWEGIAN) JADE - I will see them (NORWEGIAN) JADE and Jade again. The world is tiny. Time heals all wounds, and resentment will eventually be over. Then the longing is greater than the anger. The joys I experienced with Jade (and colleagues) are more significant in memory than the troubles on the (NORWEGIAN) JADE. It's always like that, and in the end, the last cruise is always the best.



Jade Hao: die gute (NORWEGIAN) JADE - ich werde die (NORWEGIAN) JADE und Jade wiedersehen. Die Welt ist klein. Die Zeit heilt alle Wunden und der Groll irgendwann vorbei. Dann ist die Sehnsucht größer als der Ärger. Die Freuden, die ich mit Jade (und Kollegen) erlebt habe sind in der Erinnerung größer als der Ärger auf der (NORWEGIAN) JADE. So ist es immer und am Schluss ist doch immer die letzte Kreuzfahrt die schönste.

Da wir noch jede Menge von Johanna für uns und für unsere Friseurin in Schwetzingen Sofia bekommen, müssen wir nochmals etwas im Koffer verstauen. Der Hartschalenkoffer überlebt leider diese Reise nicht mehr. Wir müssen ihn zu Hause mit Gewalt aufbrechen. Er hat jetzt für ein paar Jahre gute Dienste geleistet. Nun können wir ihn zu Hause nutzen, um die Kreuzfahrt-Utensilien zwischen den Kreuzfahrten darin aufzubewahren. Die Flaschen haben wir alle heil nach Hause bekommen: Essig und Öl.



Since we still get a lot from Johanna for our hairdresser in Schwetzingen, Germany, Sofia, and us, we have to put something in our suitcase again. Unfortunately, the hard case didn't survive this trip, and we had to force it open at home. It has served us well for a couple of years now, and now we can use it at home to store cruise essentials between cruises. We all got the bottles home safely: vinegar and oil.

I discovered the Baggagement service. They provide a luggage transfer to the hotel in Athens or the airport. So we can continue to explore the city without luggage. The service was very cheap and reliable, and we will use them again. They are at the airport on time and hand over our luggage to us even later.



Ich habe den Dienst Baggagement entdeckt. Sie sorgen für einen Gepäcktransfer ins Hotel in Athen oder zum Flughafen. So können wir ohne Gepäck weiter auf Stadterkundungen gehen. Der Service war sehr günstig und sehr zuverlässig. Wir werden sie auf jeden Fall wieder nutzen. Auch später sind sie pünktlich am Flughafen und übergeben uns unser Gepäck.

So kann Johanna uns dieses Mal mit ihrem Auto wieder fahren: zunächst einmal muss ich natürlich die NORWEGIAN JADE noch fotografieren.

The weather is nice. The city is locked: so it goes to Sounion. For the third time after MSC MUSICA 2007, NORWEGIAN JADE 2014 (2): every seven years, we look at it: I'm surprised how more and more is uncovered and expanded. That's why we meet a lot of the crew of the NORWEGIAN JADE here, who are also brought here one after the other so that they can move around freely again and visit something.



Das Wetter ist schön. Die Stadt ist gesperrt: also geht es nach Sounion. Zum dritten Mal nach MSC MUSICA 2007, NORWEGIAN JADE 2014 (2): alle sieben Jahre gucken wir uns das an: ich bin überrascht, wie immer mehr freigelegt und ausgebaut wird. Erst morgen geht es auf der NORWEGIAN JADE weiter nach Dubai. Daher treffen wir hier sehr viele von der Crew der NORWEGIAN JADE, die nacheinander auch hierher gebracht werden, damit sie sich auch mal wieder frei bewegen und etwas besichtigen können.

Wir essen hier noch eine Kleinigkeit bei NAOS. Hier kaufen auch die Crew-Mitglieder jede Menge Snacks für teures Geld. Wenn ich es gewusst hätte, dass wir alle von der Crew hier treffen: Ich hätte Johanna gebeten den ganzen Kofferraum mit Snacks vollzupacken und hätte es denen hier übergeben. Noch einmal teilen wir uns ein paar Kleinigkeiten und noch einmal eine kalte griechische Kaffeespezialität von Dimello. Später entdecke ich in Deutschland ein Café in Neu-Isenburg, in dem ich es auch bekomme. Zuvor gab es das schon auf dem Hinflug mit Aegean.



We'll have a bite here at NAOS. This is also where the crew members buy a lot of snacks for a lot of money. If I had known that we would meet all of the crew here: I would have asked Johanna to pack the whole trunk with snacks and would have handed them over to them. Once again, we share a few little things and, once again, a cold Greek coffee specialty from Dimello. Later I discovered a café in Neu-Isenburg in Germany, where I could also get it. This was previously the case on the outbound flight with Aegean.

It goes straight to the airport. We drive past Lavrion, Greece. The CELESTYAL CRYSTAL docks there, but Sigi and Bruno refuse to follow me: I'm not allowed to stop taking pictures. I'll never take them on a cruise again. They're afraid we'll miss the plane. Well, it would have been a pity if we had missed the visit to the Lufthansa Lounge in Athens, Greece: they had an excellent offer: much better than in Frankfurt, Germany. It would be best if they also took over the lounge in Frankfurt. Sigi flies back via Vienna, Austria, with Austrian: we see her plane leaving the gate while we are already taking off.



Direkt geht es zum Flughafen. Wir fahren an Lavrion vorbei. Dort liegt die CELESTYAL CRYSTAL, aber Sigi und Bruno verweigern mir ihre Gefolgschaft: ich darf nicht stoppen, um zu fotografieren. Nie wieder nehme ich die beiden mit auf Kreuzfahrt. Sie haben Angst, dass wir das Flugzeug verpassen. Na gut: es wäre schade gewesen, wenn wir den Besuch der Lufthansa Lounge in Athen verpasst hätten: die hatte ein tolles Angebot: viel besser als in Frankfurt. Sie sollten die Lounge in Frankfurt auch übernehmen. Sigi fliegt über Wien mit Austrian zurück: so sehen wir noch, wie ihr Flugzeug auch das Gate verlässt, während wir bereits starten.

Wir haben wieder ein Upgrade gekauft und fliegen Business nach Frankfurt mit Lufthansa zurück. Tasting Heimat!

Tag/Day 7.2 auf der/on NORWEGIAN JADE in Fira, Santorini, Greece

Martina wollte uns auch das normale Leben auf Santorini zeigen. Deswegen fahren wir nach Emporeio. Das ist abseits der typischen Touristenpfade: ich habe hier keine anderen getroffen. Als wir gerade ankommen, bietet ein Fischhändler seine Ware vom Laster an und die Leute halten alle an, um zu kaufen. Hier haben wir Gelegenheit, auch mal unseren Fahrer Aristoteles vorzustellen. Sie läuft mit uns durch ein Stadtviertel, das man nicht mit dem Auto erschließen kann. Selbst Baumaterial muss alles zu Fuß zu den Baustellen gebracht werden. Wir sind in einer anderen Welt. Es gibt sogar eine Kirche. Aber man will uns Fremden keinen Einlass gewähren. Wir erfahren so sehr viel über das Leben, die Architektur und Kultur auf Santorini.



Martina also wanted to show us everyday life on Santorini. That's why we're going to Emporeio, Santorini, Greece. This is off the typical tourist trail: I haven't met any others here. As we arrive, a fishmonger sells his wares from the truck, and people all stop to buy. Here we have the opportunity to introduce our driver Aristoteles. She walks with us through a district that cannot be accessed by car. Even building materials have to be brought to the construction sites on foot. We are in another world. There's even a church. But they don't want to let us, strangers, in. We learn so much about life, architecture, and culture in Santorini.

We drive to one of the highest points on the island and enjoy the view of the island from here. We do not visit the monastery of St. Elias Thira.



Wir fahren auf einer der höchsten Punkte der Insel und genießen hier den Anblick über die Insel. Das Kloster der heiligen Elias Thira besuchen wir nicht.

Der Weg hier hoch hat sich gelohnt.



The way up here was worth it.

Around the corner is the chapel of Saint Maria Portoaitissa. We can go in here for a moment. However, we are encouraged to light a candle for a donation, as is customary here.



Um die Ecke liegt noch die Kapelle der Heiligen Maria Portoaitissa. Hier können wir kurz reingehen. Wir werden aber angehalten, auch wie hier üblich eine Kerze gegen eine Spende anzuzünden.

Bei Brusco in Pyrgos halten wir, um Mittag zu essen. Wie üblich alles so bestellt, dass wir alles teilen können. Uns fällt ein junger Chinese auf, der an einem Katzentisch alleine sitzt. Kurzerhand bitten wir ihn an unseren Tisch heran: eine Irin, ein Griechische und ein Sino-Germane... wir können einander förmlich unsere Gedanken auf dem Stirn der anderen lesen. Er ist wohl ein Chinese aus der Volksrepublik (Chinesen sind Chinesen, ob aus Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singpur, Macau oder der Volksrepublik), der in den USA lebt und jetzt zeitweise in Polen arbeitet und als Tourist unterwegs ist. Auf jeden Fall sind wir wieder um eine schöne Erfahrung reicher.



At Brusco in Pyrgos, Santorini, Greece, we stop for lunch. As usual, everything is ordered so that we can share everything. We notice a young Chinese sitting alone at a cat table. Without further ado, we ask him to come to our table: an Irish woman, a Greek, and a Sino-German... we can read our thoughts on each other's foreheads. He is a Chinese from the People's Republic (Chinese are Chinese, whether from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, or the People's Republic) living in the USA and now working part-time in Poland and traveling as a tourist. In any case, we are again richer by a pleasant experience.

Our tour price included a visit to the Wine Museum, where the production of wine is explained. Of course, there will be a wine tasting later. And of course, the wines are also sold delivered to your home so that you don't get into trouble on board. Bad luck: I'm the one who swaps all the wines for water on board because I don't tolerate alcohol and who lives at home on the Hessian Bergstrasse: the BEST wine-growing region in Germany. That's why I'm sure that others had more fun here than I did. I'd rather have olive oil or vinegar. Or tea farm or cheese factory.



In unserem Tourpreis war der Besuch des Weinmuseums inkludiert, in der die Herstellung von Wein erklärt wird. Selbstverständlich findet später eine Weinprobe statt. Und natürlich werden die Weine auch verkauft, die nach Hause geliefert werden, damit man an Bord keine Schwierigkeiten bekommt. Pech: ich bin ausgerechnet derjenige, der sämtliche Weine gegen Wasser an Bord tauscht, weil ich keinen Alkohol vertrage und der zu Hause an der hessischen Bergstraße lebt: das BESTE Weinanbaugebiet Deutschlands. Deswegen bin ich mir sicher, dass andere hier mehr Freude hatten, als ich selbst. Dann lieber Olivenöl oder Essig. Oder Teefarm oder Käsemanufaktur.

Martina behauptet, dass sie uns zu der geheimen Kapelle führt, die in einen Berg hineingebaut wurde. Ich bin verwundert: sie wird tatsächlich noch aktiv ist. Das war wirklich sehr beeindruckend, dass man auch hier das ganze Material vermutlich ohne motorisierte Hilfe für den Bau heranschaffen musste. Aber das lässt man sich am Besten von Martina selbst zeigen.



Martina claims that she leads us to the secret chapel built into a mountain. I am amazed: she is still active. It was impressive that you probably had to get all the material for the construction without motorized help. But it's best to let Martina show you that.

We head back for a final cocktail together at the PK Cocktail Bar with gorgeous sunset views.



Wir fahren zurück zu einem gemeinsamen letzten Cocktail in der PK Cocktail Bar mit traumhafter Aussicht auf den Sonnenuntergang.

Ein wunderschöner Tag geht zu Ende.

Wir sind uns nicht so ganz sicher, aber wir haben wohl die letzte Seilbahn runter zum Pier erwischt. Nach uns wird nämlich das Licht ausgeknipst. Müssen die nachfolgenden Gäste zu Fuß dann runter? Unterwegs sehen wir, dass uns das Küsterehepaar von der geheimen Kapelle uns noch ein Stück Kuchen mitgegeben hat.

Alles noch da. Von der Crew ist nichts ausgetrunken worden. Wir hatten alles in Kunststoffflaschen gekauft, damit es nicht so schwer wird und nichts unterwegs kaputt gehen kann.



Everything is still there. Nothing was drunk by the crew. We had bought everything in plastic bottles so that it wouldn't be so heavy and nothing could break on the way.

Pretty cold here. But that empty?



Ganz schön kalt hier. Aber so leer?

Und dieses Mal finde ich sogar ein Telefon, an dem auch Telefonnummern dran kleben.



And this time, I even found a phone with phone numbers stuck to it.

We go to the show first before we go to dinner. We had no interest in the other shows. We already knew Elements by heart, and Country & Western is not our world. Luckily, guest artist Nicola Ward gave another performance, which we liked this time. The jokes/interaction with the British compatriots didn't exist tonight, and she's entirely focused on the music. We experience an adorable end to the trip.



Wir gehen zunächst in die Show bevor wir zum Abendessen gehen. An den anderen Shows hatten wir kein Interesse. Elements kannten wir schon auswendig und Country & Western ist nicht so ganz unsere Welt. Aber zum Glück gibt die Gastkünstlerin Nicola Ward nochmals eine Vorstellung, die uns dieses Mal sehr gut gefällt. Die Witze/die Interaktion mit den britischen Landsleuten gab es heute Abend nicht und sie konzentriert sich voll auf die Musik. Wir erleben einen sehr schönen Abschluss der Reise.

Noch ein letztes Mal erleben wir ein tolles Abendessen mit Kim und Stephanie im Grand Pacific, bevor wir zurückmüssen um zu packen und die Koffer noch vor die Tür stellen müssen.



One last time we experienced a great dinner with Kim and Stephanie at the Grand Pacific before we had to go back to pack and put our suitcases in front of the door.
