Tag/Day 0.1 Pre-Cruise auf der/on NORWEGIAN DREAM in Boston, MA

Guten Morgen,

seit 05.30 Uhr bin ich wach, um die Koffer zu packen. Irgendwie kann ich gar nicht glauben, dass wir nur auf einer 8-tägigen Kreuzfahrt sind. Benötigen wir wirklich soviel Gepäck??? Zum Glück fliegen wir Business Class, weil ich habe genügend durch die SkyTeam Partner quälen lassen. So macht mir das nicht unbedingt sorgen. Im Gepäck sind ca. 3 kg deutsche Schokolade, weil die Freunde aus dem US-Forum unbedingt welche wollten. Und zwei Flaschen Riesling von der Bergstraße. Wollen wir doch mal testen, ob unsere US-Freunde am Sonntag Abend den Tropfen zu würdigen wissen. Schließlich ist es ein Riesling und dann auch noch von dem kleinsten Weinanbaugebiet Bergstraße, der mit die edelsten Tropfen liefert. Auf jeden Fall bin ich beruhigt, dass der Flug von Newark nach Frankfurt gestartet ist und zumindest nicht ausfällt. Allerdings kommt sie mit 14 Minuten Verspätung in Frankfurt rein. Hoffentlich kommen wir pünktlich raus:

since 5.30 am I waked up to do our baggage. Somehow I cannot believe that we go only on a 7-nighter. Do we really ne so much baggage? We are flying Business Class because SkyTeam Partners teased me more than enough. So I do not care too much of excess baggage. We have about 6 lbs. of German Chocolate with us because our US-Friends from the forum wanted some. And two bottles of Riesling from "Bergstraße" (Montain Road, named by the Romans when they occupied Germany). We would really like to test if our US-friends will honour this wine on Sunday Night. It's a Riesling and it's from the smalles German Wine Region who supply one of the best German Wines. I am very glad to learn that the flight from Newark to Frankfurt took off and has not been cancelled. But she will have 14 Minutes delay when she will arrive in Frankfurt. I hope that she make it out of Frankfurt on time.

In New York erwartet uns schon mal Regen.

Weiter geht es mit dem Auto nach Boston. Der Unterschied zwischen SkyTeam und StarAlliance ist der, dass man nur sehr schwer Langstrecken-Business Class-Plätze buchen kann. Selbst ein Jahr davor, war es nicht möglich für den Wunschtermin solche Plätze zu bekommen. So müssen wir nach Newark fliegen und vier Stunden Auto fahren. Dort werden wir übernachten. Vielleicht bekommen wir ja sogar noch etwas vom Indian Summer mit. Zum Glück sieht es so aus, dass zumindest die Ausfahrt trocken erlebt werden kann.



We will continue by car to Boston. The difference between SkyTeam and StarAlliance that it is difficult to get long-haul Business Class-Seats. Even one year ahead I was unable to get some at my preferred date. So we need to go to Newark and have to drive four hours. There we will stay overnight. Maybe we can see something from the Foilage. But it looks like that the sail-away can be experienced in a dry way.

All time rain on Bermuda. Does it make sense that we have sandals and shorts with us? But there the weather should be change very quickly. Now we might experience the space (better the missing space) of the NORWEGIAN DREAM. We really hope that the Cruise Director is very flexible to offer a program onboard. I could become like going on a Transatlantic Passage.



Dauerregen auf Bermuda. Macht es überhaupt Sinn, dass wir Sandalen und Shorts mitführen? Aber dort soll sich das Wetter sehr schnell ändern. Nun macht sich vielleicht der Nachteil der Größe (bzw. fehlende Größe) der NORWEGIAN DREAM bemerkbar. Wollen wir nur hoffen, dass der Cruise Director einigermaßen flexibel ist und ggfls. Programm an Bord bietet. Im Zweifelsfall wird es ja fast eine Transatlantik.

Paiagirl (alias Frances aus cruisecritic.com), die wir in Boston ablösen, hat mir geschrieben, dass die Hinfahrt so schlimm war, dass sie aus dem Bett gefallen ist und dass wir vermutlich nur noch vom Plastikgeschirr essen können. 20.000 USD Schäden in einer Nacht. Die Restaurants sahen wohl ziemlich übel aus. Aber ein Hurricane ist nicht in Sicht.



Paiagirl (aka Frances from cruisecritic.om), who will transfer us the ship in Boston, mailed me that it was so bad that she felt out of her bed and that we might only have food from plastic. 20.000 USD damages in one night. The restaurants looked bad. But there is no hurricane expected.
