Tag/Day 0.3.1 vor der/before NORWEGIAN JADE in Verona - Padova - Venedig/Venice, Italy

Auf zum Frühstück. Gar nicht mal so schlecht für Italien. Auf jeden Fall mehr als bloß ein Espresso und ein Cornetto. Und bevor mich alle einzeln fragen: Dieses sternförmige Brötchen ist ein Riesen-Crossini (Brotstangen) in Sternform. Daher etwas trocken.



Heading for breakfast. Not so bad at all for Italy. Somehow more than just an Espresso and a Cornetto (Italian version of croissant). And before every single one of you would ask me: the star-shaped roll was a giant-crossini (bread sticks) in shape of a star. So it was quite dry.

And a small tip: if the hotel sent you a welcome mail with an upsell-offer: book the breakfast offer. It was then only 11.00 EUR but 15.00 EUR per person (2014).



Und kleiner Tipp: wenn das Hotel vorher eine Willkommensmail schickt mit einem Upsell-Angebot: dann unbedingt das Frühstücksangebot buchen. Dann kostet es nur 11,00 EUR statt 15,00 EUR pro Person (2014).

Auf dem halben Weg nach Venedig liegt Padua. Hier wollen wir schnell eine Tasse Kaffee trinken. Da das Navi mit den Häuserschluchten nicht klar kommt, geben wir entnervt auf und parken einfach und wollen zu Fuß weiter. Überrascht sind wir jedoch, dass wir nirgendst ein Parkticket ziehen müssen. Die Erfassung erfolgt über das Autokennzeichen.



On the half way later to on the way to Venice was Padova. Here we wanted to have quickly a cup of coffee.

We were curious to see.



Wir sind auf jeden Fall gespannt.

Nur wenige Schritte trennen uns vom Ziel. Aber es gibt viel zu sehen.



We were only few steps apart of our destination but we had a lot to see.

It was good to have a short walk.

Auf jeden Fall haben wir zwei Probleme: die ganzen Leckerlis rufen bloß "Nimm mich" und wir haben keine Ohrenstöpsel mit. So geben wir auf und schlagen zu. Einfach so. Wir ergeben uns den Versuchungen.



Obviously we had two problems: the sweet goodies were yelling "Take me" and we had no ear-plugs with us. So we gave up and stroke. Just so. We surrendered the temptations.

We had to come to the end of our walk in Padova: the Italian Railways Trenitalia did not strike and was on time as we found out on the app. So no more time to follow the water but quickly the highway to Venice.



Wir müssen zum Ende unseres Spaziergangs in Padua kommen: die italienische Bahn Trenitalia streikt nicht und ist pünktlich, wie wir auf dem App feststellen müssen. D. h. leider können wir nicht entlang des Wassers mehr fahren, sondern müssen auf der Autobahn direkt nach Venedig.

Und als wir später die Parkgebühren bezahlen wollen...

Wir fahren zum Bahnhof Mestre auf der Festlandseite. Gegenüber ist das Hotel Plaza. Hier wohnen die anderen, nachdem das Sarah Sun (Yacht-Hotel-Schiff) von den Behörden dicht gemacht wurde. Nur wurde für ein Hotel, das nicht mehr existiert, No-Show-Gebühren erhoben, nachdem Frances darüber informiert wurde, dass alle Buchungen automatisch storniert sind und wir neue Zimmer suchen sollen. Das haben wir ja gemacht.



We drove to Mestre Station on the mainland side. Adjustent of Hotel Plaza. Here our other fellow-cruisers should stay after the Sarah Sun (Yacht-Hotel-Ship) was closed by the authorities. But they charged us a no show fee after it was closed and Frances got a message that bookings were canceled and we had to find new room. That was what we did.

Actually they were rebuilding the Mestre Station. Bus 2 took you directly from the front of the station to Pizzalae Roma in the laguna part.



Im Moment wird am Bahnhof Mestre umgebaut. Bus 2 fährt vor dem Bahnhof ab und fährt direkt zur Piazzale Roma im Lagunenteil.

Man kann auch mit Regionalzügen zum Bahnhof Santa Lucia fahren.

Unfortunately it was really narrow there and we could only see stairs.



Leider ist alles ziemlich eng dort und irgendwie haben wir nur Treppen gesehen.

Frances steigt aus (paiagirl aus cruisecritic.com). Schon oft waren wir gemeinsam unterwegs.

And Eddie. They landed four days ago in Milan, Italy and spent there a day. Then they took the train to Brig, Switzerland and took the Glacier-Express to Bergün, Switzerland. Luckily the route was reopened after a mudslide few weeks ago. The next day the went on Bernina-Express to Tirano, Italy and continued by bus to Lugano, Switzerland and back to Milan, Italy. Due to logistics reason we wanted to find right moment to get their baggage in our car. So they must not get to the cruise terminal with their bags in case in case other friends of us whom we will introuce later if it would not work.



Und Eddie. Sie waren vor vier Tagen in Mailand gelandet und haben dort einen Tag verbracht. Danach sind sie nach Brig gefahren und weiter mit dem Glacier-Express nach Bergün. Zum Glück war nach dem Murenabgang vor einigen Wochen die Strecke wie der frei. Am nächsten Tag ging es mit dem Bernina-Express nach Tirano und weiter mit dem Bus nach Lugano und zurück nach Mailand. Aus logistischen Gründen wollten wir diesen Moment abpassen und deren Gepäck in unser Auto packen. So müssen sie morgen nicht mit Gepäck zum Kreuzfahrtterminal fahren, falls es im Auto der anderen Freunde, die wir später vorstellen werden, nicht klappt.

Wir fahren weiter in die Lagunenstadt. Bald ist auch die Silhouette der Stadt und die Silhouetten der Schiffe erkennbar.

For me as a Logistics man very great - A boat of the courier service TNT... and so they had them from DHL, FedEx and UPS too and ambulance, garbage collection etc. etc. - everything we knew on wheels you had here on water.



Für mich als Logistiker total "geil" - Ein Boot vom Kurierdienst TNT... und so gibt es natürlich auch DHL, FedEx und UPS sowie Krankentransporte, Müllabfuhr usw. usw. - alles was wir auf Rädern kennen, gibt es hier im Wasser.

Wir haben ein Problem: wir haben Schokolade mit - für die Crew. Und wir haben eigentlich einen Parkplatz am Cruise Terminal reserviert. Aber da müssen wir ganz schön laufen. Außerdem ist es zu heiß für die Schokolade. Also fahren wir ins Tronchetto-Parkhaus, damit der Wagen im Schatten steht. 21,00 EUR (2014)... wir hätten genauso gut neue Schokolade kaufen können... aber logistisch ist das einfacher. Wer wenig laufen will, parkt im Bereich A/B um schnell zu den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln zu kommen. Im Bereich E sind die Toiletten. Aber bis dahin läuft man sich die Füße platt.



We had one problem: we had chocolate with us - for the crew. And we booked a parking at the cruise terminal. But we need to walk a long way. Furthermore it was too hot for the chocolate. So we went to Tronchetto-Garage so we could store our car in the shadow. 21.00 EUR (2014)... we could also buy new chocolate instead... but from the logistic side it was easier. We liked to walk short ways to get fast to the public transport better park in section A/B. Toilets were in area E. But you walk your feet hurting.

From Tronchetto we have access to the waterbus (Valporetto) of ACTV.

Außerdem ist hier Endhaltestelle des People Movers.



Further here was the terminal fo the People Mover.

From here you can get on the Barzi Bus to the Treviso Airport too.



Von hier aus kommt man mit dem Barzi Bus auch zum Flughafen Treviso.

Und für Frances schon mal wichtig: direkt rechts vom People Mover Bahnhof hält hier der InterCityBus der ÖBB.



And for Frances it could become important later: right of the People Mover Stop was the bus stop of the ÖBB Austrian Railways Intercity-Bus.

From here you can get four times a day to Villach, Austria (2014).



Von hier aus geht es vier Mal am Tag nach Villach (2014).

As far as there was no ship in port: so the run only every 10 minutes.



Bislang ist noch kein Schiff im Hafen: so fahren sie im Moment nur alle 10 Minuten.

Almost there was only the stop Cruise Terminal between Piazzale Roma and Tronchetto.



Eigentlich geht es nur zwischen Piazzale Roma und Tronchetto mit Zwischenhalt am Kreuzfahrtterminal.

Achtung: die letzten Fahrten sind jedoch verhältnismäßig früh.

From the People Mover Station the situation looked lie this: Terminal 110 would be far away.



Vom People Mover Bahnhof sieht die Situation wie folgt aus: Terminal 110 wäre ganz schön weit weg.

Aber zumindest gibt es Fahrstühle.



At least they had elevators.

Und durch die Schranken.

Und weiter zum Ausgang.

Diese Haltestelle haben entdeckt. Nur am nächsten Tag gab es hier keine Busse, die zu den Schiffen fuhren. Stattdessen standen dann hier Hostessen, die einem erklärten, wie man zu Fuß zu seinem Schiff kommt.



We discovered this stop. Only the next days there was no bus which took us to the ship. Instead they had hostesses who explained how to walk to your ship.

Depending where your ship docks it could be a long way to reach.



Je nach dem, wo das Schiff anlegt, kann es ja noch ein ganz schöne Ecke sein.

Von hier fahren die Alilaguna-Valporettos der blauen Linie direkt zu unserem Hotel. Alternativ hätten wir erst nach San Marco fahren müssen. Aber solange wir uns nicht als Passagiere der NORWEGIAN JADE morgen identifizieren können, dürfen wir nicht rein. Die Haltestelle Stazione Marittima liegt auf Privatgelände und ist keine öffentliche Haltestelle.



From here we went by the Blue Line of the Alilaguna-Valporetto directly to our hotel. Aternatively we need to get to San Marco. But as long as we could not identify ourselves as passengers of NORWEGIAN JADE for tomorrow we were not allowed to enter. The stop Stazione Marittima was on private property and not a public stop.

So we headed to Terminal 103 to get to the Waterbus.



So laufen wir weiter zum Terminal 103, um zum Wasserbus zu gelangen.

Hier gibt es auch einen Geldautomaten.

Well... we were right here: we need to get the airport line (Blue Line)



Aha... hier sind wir richtig: Wir müssen zur Flughafenlinie (Blaue Linie).

Hier kann man auch Wassertaxis und alle möglichen Transportmöglichkeiten buchen.

Here we had to queue. But as longs as NORWEGIAN SPIRIT has not arrived we were the only guests.



Hier müssen wir uns anstellen. Aber solange die NORWEGIAN SPIRIT noch nicht im Hafen ist, sind wir die einzigen Gäste.

Für 15.00 EUR (2014) kommen wir hin- und zurück.

Da kommt auch schon unser Wasserbus (Valporetto).

Achtung: es gibt verschiedene Typen. Das ist eines der ship-spotter-unfreundlichen Typen.

Here we were correct although we were not interested to get to the airport, to Murno or to St. Mark's Square.



Hier sind wir richtig, auch wenn wir weder zum Flughafen, nach Murano noch zum Markusplatz wollen.

Innen ist es nicht besonders gemütlich.



Inside it was not very comfortable.

You could easily open the window and taking pictures from here subject you could caught a window seat.



Man so leicht die Fenster öffnen und daraus fotografieren, wenn man einen Fensterplatz erwischt.
