Tag/Day 4.2 auf der/on NORWEGIAN GEM in Neapel/Naples, Italy

Wir sollen von dem Bahnhofsvorplatz nun zehn Minuten runterlaufen. Hin mag es stimmen, da es zurück aber immer bergauf geht, dürften zurück 15 Minuten werden. Auf dieser Straße rechts hinter der nächsten Kreuzung ist die offizielle Touristeninformation.



We should walk 10 minutes downhill from the station square. It might be real for the outward walk, but for the return when you walk all the way uphill it might be 15 minutes. On this street just after the next crossing on the right side you find the official tourist information.

The waste mafia is still active. On the way we had a cup of coffee.



Man merkt, dass die Müll-Mafia immer noch aktiv ist. Unterwegs trinken wir noch einen Kaffee.

Herculaneum. Unser weiteres Ziel ist erreicht.



Our next destination: Herculaneum

A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.

Der Anblick war schon sehr beeindruckend.

Der Vesuv nochmals im Hintergrund. Nun müssen wir wieder zum Bahnhof rauf.

Giro d'Italia (bike-race - Italian version of Tour de France) is supposed to be in Ercolano.

Da kommt unsere Bahn nach Neapel zurück.

Am Bahnhof Garabaldi wollen wir wieder raus.



We need to get off at Garabaldi Station.

As we want to have a pizza it does not make too much sense to go to Porta Nolana.



Wir wollen noch eine Pizza essen. Dafür lohnt es sich nicht bis zur Endstelle Porta Nolana durchzufahren.

müssen wir durch eine Straße, in der kurz zuvor wohl noch Markt war.

Deswegen müssen wir durch den Müllberg auf der Straße durch.



That's why we need to walk between the hills of garbage.

I was waiting for the first scooter someone will try to rob my camera. But we were lucky: nothing happened.



Ich warte schon auf ein Mofa, von dem auch jemand versucht, meine Kamera zu entreißen. Aber es passiert zum Glück nichts.

Bald haben wir es geschafft.



Soon we should arrive at our destination.

The place should be at a crossing on Via Pietro Colletta. It could not be so far from here.



Die Pizzeria liegt an einer Kreuzung der Via Pietro Colletta. So können wir nicht mehr weit sein.

Und da ist ist: die antike Pizzeria "da Michele", die es seit 1870 gibt.



There she is: the ancient Pizzeria "da Michele" which was founded in 1870.

It's cozy. We were lucky just to wait few minutes outside on the sidewalk after we picked a ticket at the register.



Hier drin ist es urig. Zum Glück müssen wir nur wenige Minuten auf dem Bürgersteig warten, nach dem wir zuvor eine Nummer an der Kasse abgeholt haben.

Es gibt nur zwei Sorten in zwei verschiedene Größen: Margharita und Marinara. Ab 4 EUR wird man satt.

The restaurant was so famous even our US-cruisefriends came in: Shriley and Bob (from jen2681 from cruisecritic.com)



Das Lokal ist so bekannt, dass sogar unsere amerikanischen Kreuzfahrtfreunde aus den USA hier vorbei gekommen: Shirley und Bob (von jen2681 aus dem cruisecritic.com-Forum).

Wir teilen uns zu fünft zwei große Pizzen. Das reicht für einen Snack. Familienessen: ein Teller von dem alle essen.



We shared two larger pizza for five. That was fine for a snack. Familiy meal: one plate for all of us.

By the way: may I introduce Jen and Nat (jessicatro from cruisecritic.com). They joined us because they like to see the vulcano as well. They invited us for taking them with us. For this pizza they could also join us on a flight to the moon. The best pizza I had so far in my life.



Das sind übrigens Jen und Nat (jessicatro aus dem cruisecritic.com-Forum) haben sich uns angeschlossen, weil sie auch unbedingt auf den Vulkan wollten. Sie haben uns eingeladen, weil wir sie mitgenommen haben. Für die Pizza hätten wir auch einen Flug zum Mond organsiert. In der Tat: die leckerste Pizza, die ich bislang gegessen habe.

Da der Weg zur Straßenbahn sehr weit ist, wollen wir mit dem Bus zurückfahren. Die Karten gelten ja insgesamt 90 Minuten inkl. Umstieg. Um die Ecke ist zum Glück eine der Hauptverkehrsmagistralen Neapels.



The way to the tram is very long. So we wanted to return by bus. Our tickets are good for 90 minutes incl. transfers. Around the corner is one of Naples main traffic roads.

Two buses should go to Pizza Municipio close to the Cruise Terminal.



Mindestens zwei Busse fahren in die Nähe des Cruise Terminals an der Piazza Municipio.

Die Busspur ist keine Garantie, dass es zügig läuft.



A reserved lane for buses is not a garantee for going fast.

Auf der Busspur wird der Bus noch vom Krankenwagen überholt.

Mit der O-Bus-Linie R2 (Fahrplanstand November 2009) kommen wir bis Via Depretis Ecke Piazza Municipio.

The bus just stop in front of the subway construction site at Piazza Municipio.



Man kommt direkt vor die U-Bahn-Baustelle an der Piazza Municipio.

Einmal links und man sieht schon das Cruise Terminal und ein Fahrkartenverkauf, der vielleicht sogar Englisch verstanden hätte, um uns die Mühe heute zu ersparen, den Bus von Vesuviana Mobilita zu suchen.



One left turn and you see the Cruise Terminal and a ticket sales who might understood English to avoid the long search for the Vesuviana Mobilita Bus.

Few steps to the Cruise Terminal... The feet hurts....



Wenige Schritte noch bis zum Cruise Terminal. Die Füße tun weh...

Aber der Whirlpool auf unserem Schiff wartet auf uns...
