Tag/Day 7.2 auf der/on NORWEGIAN GEM in Cannes, France

Ursprünglich war geplant, dass wir früh vom Schiff gehen und nach Grasse fahren, von dort aus mit der Bahn nach Nizza und dort entlang der Küstenstraße wieder zurück. Nach den stressigen Tagen zuvor, habe ich Nizza gestrichen, da wir eh mit der OCEAN PRINCESS nächstes Jahr direkt dort anlegen. Den letzten vollen Tag wollten wir genießen, sind später aufgestanden und haben das Programm radikal gekürzt. Als ich nämlich morgens aufwachten, war es nämlich noch dunkel, als wir festgemacht hatten.



Originally it was planned to leave the ship early and go to Grasse. From here to take the train to Nice and then alongside the coastal road back. After the stressy days before we cancelled Nice as we will call Nice itself on OCEAN PRINCESS next year. So we wanted to enjoy the last day on board and woke up late and cut the programme. When I woke up in the morning it was still dark when we anchored.

It was a surprise that there were no tender-tickets available. I called Ryan and asked for and he offered us to escort us to the tender-boat-exit on deck 4.



Erstaunlicherweise gab es keine Tenderboot-Tickets. Ich hatte zuvor Ryan angerufen und danach gefragt und er bot uns an zum Tenderboot-Ausgang auf Deck 4 zu eskortieren.

Aber als wir gegen 09.00 Uhr dort waren, war eh nichts mehr los.



When we arrived there at 9 am it was calm anyway.

At the tender-terminal nothing has not changed so far since our visit on NORWEGIAN JADE.



Die Tenderbootstation hat sich seit damals auf der NORWEGIAN JADE nicht verändert.

Dass wir schon so früh zurück sein müssen, ist eigentlich eine Schande. Für Monte Carlo gibt es ja ab nächster Saison auch nur acht Stunden, die sich von 10.00 Uhr bis 18.00 Uhr verteilen, was etwas günstiger ist.



That you need to be back so soon was a shame. For Monte Carlo in the next season there are eight hours as well but better allocated from 10 am to 6 pm which I think is more convenient.

Still the same.



Hier hat sich nichts verändert.

Dieses Mal nehme ich mir die Zeit auch mal in die Touristen-Information hochzulaufen. Dort erhalte ich alle Pläne für Cannes, Nizza, Grasse, Monte Carlo usw. usw. Insbesondere interessiert mich aber die Autovermietung, die empfohlen wird. Europcar war zu weit weg. Ich wusste, dass hier eine andere Firma empfohlen wurde. Als ich dieses Jahr bei der Zentrale von der Touristen-Information nachgefragt habe, gab es nur eine Liste mit allen Firmen. Aber hier finde ich den Flyer von Mistral Autovermietung. Und die rue Georges Clémenceau ist doch um einiges näher zur Tenderbootanlegestelle. Dieses Mal aber wollen wir Bus fahren...



This time I took the occassion to see around in the tourist-information. There I also got maps for Cannes, Nice, Grasse, Monte Carlo etc. etc. I was very much interested in car rental locations. Europcar was too far away. I remember that they recommend another company. But when I asked the main office of the tourist information I got only a list of all companies in Cannes. But here I found the flyer I was looking for: Mistral Car Rental. To get to rue Georges Clémenceau is much more easier from the tender terminal. But this time we were interested to use the bus...

Outside there is a map which I have not seen last year.

We need to cross the parking because we need to get to the bus.



Wir laufen quer über den Parkplatz, weil wir ja Bus fahren wollen.

Mit Linie 8 verbindet Quai Labeuf mit Antibes. Die Rundfahrt für eine Stunde kostet 2 EUR.



Route 8 connects Quai Labeuf with Antibes. A round trip for one hour is available for 2 EUR.

You can get on the trace of the movie stars by using the little train.



Mit der Kleinbahn auf Reifen kann man auch sich auf die Spuren der FIlmstars begeben.

Wir wollen aber nicht mit diesen Bussen fahren, sondern suchen den städtischen Bus. Es geht nach links.



We did not want to use the tourist lines but the public lines - so we need to make a left-turn.

Then a right-turn to the stairs.



... dann rechts die Stufen hoch...

und dann nach links, wenn man oben angekommen ist.



Again to the left when you arrived above.

But if you make a right-turn instead you find an internet-café.



Aber rechts runter ist ein Internet-Café.

Die Haltestelle hat sich ein wenig vor uns versteckt...



The bus stop is a little hidden.

Each of two routes takes you in a 15-minutes-interval to the train station. So you can get easily to the train station as many cruisers warned that it should be too far to walk...



Zwei Linien fahren sogar im 15-Minuten-Takt zum Bahnhof. So spart man sich immer den langen Weg vor denen so viele warnen...

As we planned to continue to Grasse we bought with the driver a transfer ticket to Grasse (Billet vers Grasse en correspondance à ligne 600 (sixcent)). For just 1 EUR for each person we got a ticket for the section to the train station and another one for the section to Grasse which we should present to the next bus driver.



Da wir ja mit dem Bus weiter nach Grasse wollen, kaufen wir beim Fahrer bereits eine Umsteigerkarte nach Grasse (Billet vers Grasse en correnspendance à ligne 600 (sixcent)). Für 1 EUR pro Person bekommen wir eine Karte für den Abschnitt zum Bahnhof und weiter nach Grasse, dem wir den nächsten Busfahrer zeigen sollen.

Am Bahnhof müssen wir zurücklaufen, da die Busse nach Grasse hinten rechts abfahren.



At the train station you need to walk back as the buses to Grasse start from the rear right side.

I see that the AVIS location at the train station is closer than Europcar.



Im Bahnhof sehe ich, dass AVIS hier auch eine nähere Station als Europcar gehabt hätte.

Das wären also die Automaten, an denen man die Tickets abholen kann, wenn man diese zuvor auf der internationalen Seite der Französischen Eisenbahn SNCF bestellt hätte. Ich hatte allerdings meine vorbestellten Tickets im Internet storniert. Das kostete mich 2,50 EUR Gebühren.



That's the machines to collect your tickets if you pre-book them on TGV Europe - The international website of French Railways SNCF. But I cancelled my tickets in internet and it occured 2.50 EUR cancellation fee.

It was easy to work with this machine and within few minutes I could also get new tickets in English.



Die Bedienung der Automaten ist jedoch sehr einfach und ich hätte auch innerhalb von Minuten in Deutsch neue Tickets bekommen.

Es wäre sogar ein Zug nach Grasse gefahren, aber den gibt es nicht für 1 EUR. Außerdem fährt er selterner, ist allerdings schneller.



There would be also a train to Grasse but not for 1 EUR. It goes less then the bus but is much more faster.

The blue machines are for the regional traffic of French Railways SNCF: TER.



Die blauen Automaten sind für den Regionalverkehr der Französischen Eisenbahn SNCF: TER.

Dort beherrschen nicht alle Automaten Fremdsprachen.



But here the foreign language skills are very limited.

I think you can manage it as well by following your insticts.



Irgendwie schafft man es aber trotzdem intuitiv...

Mit AVIS ist das schon praktischer, als mit Europcar. Mal gucken, ob wir es später mal nutzen.



AVIS is easier to handle than Europcar. Let's see if we can use it another time.

The plans for the walking tours ran out at the tender boat station. So I got here one.



Da am Tenderbootterminal die Pläne für die Stadtbesichtigung zu Fuß ausgegangen sind, hole ich mir am Bahnhof kurzerhand einen.

Bus 600 bringt uns nach Grasse. Während der Rush-Hour fährt er im 20- sonst im 30-Minuten-Takt.



Bus 600 will get us to Grasse. During the rush-hours the bus go every 20 minutes or 30 minutes all other times.

TAM's office is normally closed on Saturday. So I cannot ask if the ride to Monte Carlo by bus is now 1 or 2 EUR...



Das Büro der TAM ist allerdings samstags normalerweise geschlossen. Daher kann ich nicht nachfragen, ob eine Fahrt bis Monte Carlo nur 1 EUR oder 2 EUR kostet...

Against presentation of the previous ticket for three persons we got three single tickets from the driver without additional payment.



Gegen Vorlage des alten Tickets für 3 Personen bekommen wir vom Fahrer drei Einzeltickets ohne weitere Bezahlung.

Ich kalkuliere für mich, dass ich es nicht schaffe, vor 13.30 Uhr wieder an Bord zu sein, um im Grand Pacific zu Mittag zu essen und mich nochmals von Luiza und Adina zu verabschieden. So kehre ich um, während Bruno und meine Schwester wie geplant nach Grasse fahren. Sie bekommen den Auftrag für eine Freundin, die Geburtstag hat, ein Geschenk zu besorgen.



I calculate for myself that I cannot made it back on the ship before 1.30 pm to have lunch in Grand Pacific Main Restaurant. But I wanted to say good-bye to Luiza and Adina. While Bruno and my sister continued to Grasse as planned I returned to the ship. They got the order to buy a gift for a friend who has birthday.

They arrived at the bus terminal which is located a little outside the city center. But as the bus does not use the same streets back it was good for them to know where the bus terminal was located.



Sie kommen am Bus Bahnhof an, der ein wenig weiter liegt, als das Ortszentrum. Da der Bus jedoch innerhalb von Grasse nicht auf der gleichen Route zurückfährt, war es gut so, dass sie schon wussten, wo der Busbahnhof war.

Alles fußläufig erreichbar. Da ich nicht dabei war, gibt es die weiteren Bilder ohne Kommentar. Sie meinen allerdings, dass die Orte auf Malta schon irgendwie interessanter waren.



Everything was walkable. As I was not there further pictures follow without comments. They said that the villages on Malta was more exciting.















Bei Fragonard haben sie dann ein Duschgel gekauft, weil das günstigste Parfüm im Fabrikverkauf immer noch 35 EUR kostet. Außerdem sind die meisten Fabrikationen außerhalb Grasses verlegt worden.



They bought a shower gel at Fragonard as the cheapest parfume at the outlet was 35 EUR. Most production plants were moved outside the city.







Für 1 EUR fahren sie auch nach Cannes zurück.



For 1 EUR they got back to Cannes.

Due to nice weather they preferred to enjoy the city while walking to the tender boat terminal.



Sie ziehen es aber vor, das schöne Wetter zu genießen und laufen zum Tenderbootanlegestelle zurück.

















Kurz vor 14.00 Uhr tendern sie zurück. Nicht mehr so knapp wie damals auf der NORWEGIAN JADE, als mit uns auch die Tische, Schilder usw. zurücktransportiert wurden...



Before 2 pm they got back on a tender boat. Not anymore so close to departure like last time when they moved back tables, signposts etc. back to NORWEGIAN JADE.

So verabschieden wir uns auch von unserem letzten Hafen bei strahlendem Sonnenschein.



So we bid farewell to our last port of call with sunshine.

Let's see when we will have an occassion to see Cannes as well.



Mal gucken, wann wir es schaffen, uns auch mal Cannes anzugucken...

und mal einen Cappucino im Carlton leisten... Das Hotel kennt man vielleicht von der Egoiste (Chanel)-Werbung. Und mit Sicherheit werden die bisherigen Rekord von 5,50 EUR für einen Cappucino brechen...



and having a cappucino at Carlton... You might know better the hotel from the TV-commercial for Egoiste (Chanel). I am sure that they will break the record for a cappucino of 5.50 EUR...

Just after leaving Cannes we got in to a wall of clouds. Mid of November and such a luck with the weather - unbelievable.



Kurz nach der Abfahrt in Cannes fuhren wir dann auch in eine Wolkenwand rein... Mitte November und so ein Glück mit dem Wetter - unglaublich!!!
