Die Anreise war mal wieder eine Katastrophe... Deutsche Bahn... Im Raum Braunschweig ging gar nichts mehr. Eigentlich wollte ich noch zu Hause zu Ende packen, aber zum Glück hatte das Bruno erledigt. Die ICE-Züge von Berlin nach Frankfurt hatten z. T. mehr als 2 Stunden Verspätung wegen eines Stellwerkausfalls in Berlin. So haben wir wieder unser Auto zum Platzhirsch gebracht und dann die neuen Verzehrsstände im Airport City Mall im Terminal 1 im Keller ausprobiert. Dort gibt es Public Viewing und sie sind so günstig, dass sie auch beim Flughafenpersonal sehr beliebt sind. Irgendwie ging es mal wieder mit Verspätung los.
The journey was again a desaster... Germany Railways... In Brunswick area where I am working nothing went. Originally I planned to finish packing but luckily Bruno made this. All ICE InterCityExpress High-Speed-Services from Berlin to Frankfurt were late for more than 2 hours due to a technical problem with the rail control. So we parked our car again with Platzhirsch and tried the new snack bars in the new Airport City Mall in Terminal 1 of Frankfurt Airport. They were very popular as the offered public viewing of the World Cup Games and the airport staff loved them because they offered affordable food. Somehow we start again with a delay.
The desaster did not end: Around Düsseldorf there was a line closure. As ususally you get information slice by slice... 5 minutes originally...
Die Katastrophen waren aber bis dahin nicht zu Ende. In Düsseldorf war wieder eine Streckensperrung. In üblicher Salami-Taktik zunächst 5 Minuten...und dann 20 Minuten, die uns allerdings in Schwierigkeiten bringen würden, weil wir nur 19 Minuten in Utrecht zum Umsteigen hatten. Hinterher stellte sich heraus, dass seit 20.00 Uhr in Utrecht sowieso gebaut wurde und alle Fahrpläne, die die Deutsche Bahn veröffentlicht hat, Makulatur ist.
but then 20 minutes which would have brought us to trouble as we had only 19 minutes for our transfer in Utrecht. Later we learned that construction works started at 20.00 hrs in Utrecht and all schedule information in Germany we got were invalid.Although we went 1st class: the compartments in the Dutch trains were so narrow that just only trolley fit between the seats. For my short legs it was perfect to sleep a little, as the journey took longer as the train was diverted. So we missed the connection to the last tram to our hotel.
Obwohl wir 1. Klasse fahren: die Abteile bei der Niederländischen Bahn sind so eng, dass unser Trolley gerade mal zwischen geht. Allerdings für meine kurzen Beine klasse, so dass ich ein wenig schlafen kann, da die Fahrt länger dauert, weil wir eine Umleitung fahren. Dadurch verpassen wir die letzte Straßenbahn zum Hotel.Wir haben dann für 9,50 EUR (plus Trinkgeld) ein Taxi genommen, die im Moment nur sehr versteckt verfügbar sind, weil am Hauptbahnhof in Rotterdam ziemlich gebaut wird. Für 114 EUR bekommen wir doch ein etwas spartanisches, aber funktionelles Zimmer im Maritime Hotel.
We took a taxi for 9.50 EUR (plus tips) which were hidden because there were major construction works around the central station in Rotterdam. For 114 EUR we got a Spartan but functional room in Maritime Hotel.It's a former sailor's accomodation so it was very clairaudiant.
Es ist halt ein ehemaliges Seemannsheim und sehr hellhörig.Mir fehlt im Bad nur ein Bodenhandtuch zum Glücklich sein.
I was missing a towel for the floor.For one night it should work.
Für eine Nacht wird es schon gehen.Im Kleiderschrank ist auch alles da.

Man konnte bei der Reservierung die Lage (und somit den Preis) des Zimmers bestimmen: der Blick ist einmalig.Angesichts der ersten AIS-Information, die besagt, dass die NORWEGIAN EPIC um 03.30 Uhr bzw. 05.30 Uhr ankommen soll, ein unschätzbarer Vorteil, wenn man direkt gegenüber vom Kreuzfahrtterminal wohnt.
Due to the first AIS-information which told about expeted time of arrival of NORWEGIAN EPIC between 03.30 hrs and 05.30 hrs a great advantage to have the room adjustant to the cruise terminal.
