Seetag/Day at Sea 2.1 auf der/on NORWEGIAN JADE

Gestern hatten wir noch ein Wasserpaket bestellt und uns in die Kabine liefern lassen. Hat gut geklappt. Am 2. Tag kann man auch noch die Getränkepakete bestellen, bloß wird trotzdem der vergangene Tag berechnet.



The day before we ordered a water package and let them delivered to our cabin. Worked very well. At the 2nd day you can still order beverage packages but they will charge you for the past day too.

Ich gucke mich mal im Garden Café um, was es zum Frühstück gibt. Leider kein Congee. Es waren wohl nicht genügend Asiaten an Bord. Ich könnte ja fragen und ich bin sicher, dass sie mir auch den Wunsch erfüllen würden, aber ich lasse es. Sogar die englischen Würstchen gab es, die es noch nicht einmal auf einem Schiff gab mit englisch-amerikanischen Wurzeln...



I checked what was available for breakfast in the Garden Café. Unfrotunately no conguee. There were not enough Asians on board. I could have asked and I am sure that they would have prepared some for me but I did not ask. Even they had English sausages which I could not get on a ship with English-American roots...

A "bad" man which I really "hate"... because he married one of the nicest and best crew member from NCL and so he withdrew the access to the passengers: Philmore Harrison. Himself he was more "mean"... he can cook so good... but of all things at the Garden Café where I never eat...



Ein "böser" Mann, den ich als Passagier echt "hasse"... weil er einer der besten und nettesten Mitarbeiterinnen von NCL geheiratet hat und daher den Zugriff der Passagiere entzogen hat: Philmore Harrison. Und er selbst war noch viel "gemeiner"... der Mann kann so gut kochen... und ausgerechnet im Garden Café, wo ich nie esse...

Seine Frau Monica hat uns auf so vielen Fahrten (hier zuletzt Oktober 2011 auf der NORWEGIAN JADE) umsorgt. Und nun hat er ganz egoistisch sie ganz alleine für sich... Monica und Philmore hatten immer dafür gesorgt, dass wir eine gute Zeit an Bord hatten, deswegen hatten wir uns auch erlaubt, ihnen ein Geschenk zukommen zu lassen, als sie Eltern geworden sind... Und ich hoffe ja immer noch, dass sie in Barcelona ein Lokal eröffnen... Philmore am Herd... Monica im Service... und die perfekte Pre-Cruise kann beginnen...



His wife Monica accompanied and took care of us on so many journeys (like here in October 2011 on NORWEGIAN JADE). And he has her all by himself. Very selfish... Monica and Philmore made sure that we really had a good time on board. That was why we need to send them a gift when they became parents... Und I still have the hope that they will open a restaurant in Barcelona... Philmore in the kitchen... Monica in the service... and the perfect pre-cruise could begin...

Not anymore Mamma and Pappa are cooking anymore... you have only "Il Cucina". As Dhuri told us that the menu has not changed since our last visit on our journey in January 2013 on NORWEGIAN SPIRIT we did not see it... We would rate anyhow their performance with Giuseppina's Cooking School, Cum Quibus, La Bomboniera... So it might be better to leave it.



Hier kochen nicht mehr Mamma oder Pappa... sondern es nur noch "Il Cucina". Da Dhuri uns sagte, dass die Speisekarte sich seit unserer Fahrt im Januar 2013 auf der NORWEGIAN SPIRIT nicht verändert hat, verzichten wir auf einen Besuch... Wir würden ja sowieso alles mit dem Maßstab von Giuseppinas Kochschule, Cum Quibus, La Bomboniera messen... Deswegen lassen wir es lieber.

Tagsüber steht es als Erweiterung den Gästen des Garden Cafés zur Verfügung.

When Bruno was shaving he saw that the power outlet was already damaged and pushed inside and the lamp was not fixed properly. So we informed our cabin steward.



Beim Rasieren fällt Bruno auf, dass der Stecker bereits eingedrückt ist und die Lampe im Bad nicht mehr in Ordnung ist. Kurzerhand verständigen wir unseren Steward.

Komischerweise ist ein Teil des deutschen Tagesprogramms in Französisch... und ein Teil in Deutsch...



Strange. Some parts of our German daily programme was in French... and one part in German...

We prepared our first laundry bag.



Wir machen mal den ersten Wäschesack fertig.

Und starten mal mit dem Verwöhnprogramm für nette Kabinenstewards... Wir verteilen mal die erste Schoki.



And we started with our feel-good-programme with nice cabin stewards... So we started to allocate our first chocolate.

"Our names are"... once upon a time when they were two...

Aha... und ruckzuck war es repariert.

In the afternoon we got a greeting from Hotel Director Jean-Michel Dhélin.

As compensation for our suffers on NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY we were allowed to have breakfast at Cagney's.

They noticed on cruisecritic.com that we booked on OASIS OF THE SEAS for the same time-range of our Venice-sailing on NORWEGIAN JADE in September 2014.

We did the booking on OASIS OF THE SEAS because of our anger after the incidents on NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY and because we were somehow curious on the ship. Meanwhile we had few more incidents which we used to consider a revision of our plans.

1. Bigger does not mean better - after NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY, ROYAL PRINCESS and MSC PREZIOSA we were nuts of any giant ships. After RYNDAM we were very much spoiled. And when we docked next to NAVIGATOR OF THE SEAS in Kusadasi, Turkey there was no more a desire to see a big ship.
2. The Guidecca-Canal will be closed for large ships from November 2014 so a Venice cruise is a must.
3. Frances and Eddie would join us on NORWEGIAN JADE in September 2014.
4. Many of our crew-friends will be on board of NORWEGIAN JADE in September 2014 and they will make sure that we will have a great time on board and with Royal Caribbean we would have the worldwide largest cruise ship but we will be nobodies onboard.
5. It would be the last voyage before dry-dock and Royal Caribbean always operates until erosion and they want a lot of money per night. Currently in a Boardwalk-Oceanview. And ALLURE OF THE SEAS will follow a year later.

So we let NCL break their back and giving us their best to keep us staying with them... And that looked quite nice: a great breakfast buffet with a great service at your seat with great hot dishes and all in a very intimate atmosphere. This "lasso"was a very good, yummy, convenient etc. one to catch us back. And we like to allow them to catch us. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar and you catch HeinBloed with steak and eggs...



Als Wiedergutmachung für die Leiden auf der NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY durften wir in das Cagney's zum Frühstücken.

Man hatte wohl auf cruisecritic.com mitbekommen, dass wir zeitgleich zur September 2014-Reise mit der NORWEGIAN JADE ab Venedig ebenfalls auf der OASIS OF THE SEAS gebucht sind.

Die Buchung auf der OASIS OF THE SEAS entstand aus der Verägerung über das, was auf der NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY passiert ist und aus einer gewissen Neugier auf das Schiff. Zwischenzeitlich waren bereits ein paar Ereignisse, die wir dahingehend nutzten, nochmals alles zu überdenken:

1. Größer ist nicht besser - nach NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY, ROYAL PRINCESS und MSC PREZIOSA hatten wir die Nase voll von Riesenschiffen. Irgendwie waren wir durch die RYNDAM zuletzt sehr verwöhnt worden. Und als wir direkt neben der NAVIGATOR OF THE SEAS in Kusadasi lagen, dachten wir nur: es muss nicht sein.
2. Der Guidecca-Kanal wird für große Kreuzfahrtschiffe ab November 2014 geschlossen, also ist Venedig davor ein muss.
3. Frances und Eddie würden mit auf die NORWEGIAN JADE im September 2014 mitkommen.
4. Viele unserer Crew-Freunde sind an Bord der NORWEGIAN JADE im September 2014 und würden uns bestimmt wieder verwöhnen und bei Royal Caribbean hätten zwar das größte Kreuzfahrtschiff der Welt, aber wir wären die Niemands an Bord.
5. Es wäre die letzte Fahrt vor dem Trockendock und Royal Caribbean fährt ja alles sehr gerne auf Verschleiß und verlangt auch noch sehr viel Geld dafür pro Nacht. Derzeit in einem Boardwalk-Oceanview. Und die ALLURE OF THE SEAS kommt ja ein Jahr später.

Also lassen wir mal NCL strampeln und ihr Bestes geben, damit wir bei ihnen bleiben... Und das sah schon mal gut aus: ein tolles Frühstücksbüffet mit einem tollen Service am Platz mit tollen warmen Gerichten und das ganze in einer intimen Atmosphäre. Dieses "Lasso" war schon mal ein sehr gutes, leckeres, angenehmes usw., um uns wieder einzufangen. Und so lassen wir uns gerne wieder einfangen. Mit Speck fängt man Mäuse und mit Steak und Eiern Hein Bloed...

Weiter ging es um 11.00 Uhr zum Meet & Greet von cruisecritic.com in Le Bistro. Anfangs hatte ich fünf Gäste bei NCL angemeldet. Sie haben es auf 25 erhöht. Und dann hatte ich sicherheitshalber gebeten mal für 60 Gäste Kekse zu backen.



At 11.00 hrs we headed into Le Bistro with the Meet & Greet with cruisecritic.com. At the beginning I told NCL to register five guests. They put everything on 25. And later I had to tell them bo arrange cookies for 60 guests.

It was prepared very well.



Alles war gut vorbereitet.

Es wurden Listen erstellt, damit man auch die Gäste als cruisecritic.com-Mitglieder an Bord identifizieren kann. Außerdem gab es die Karten mit den wichtigen Telefonnummern.



They arranged lists to identify the guests as cruisecritic.com-members while they are on board. Futhermore we got cards with important phone numbers.

You could see how small the world ist: he prepared my last meal onboard of NORWEGIAN DREAM on her very last voyage in 2008: Rodney Bennet - today Executive Chef onboard of NORWEGIAN JADE.



Wie klein doch die Welt ist: er hatte damals meine letzte Mahlzeit an Bord der NORWEGIAN DREAM 2008 auf der allerletzten Reise zubereitet: Rodney Bennet - heute Executive Chef hier an Bord der NORWEGIAN JADE.

Ich hatte mal auf den alten Bildern von der NORWEGIAN DREAM geguckt, aber da konnte ich ihn nicht entdecken.



I checked on my old pictures of NORWEGIAN DREAM but I could not discover him.

Due to the time change many were already there earlier. I did not registered anyone by names just booked for 2/3 of the roll-call.



Wegen der Zeitumstellung waren viele schon früher da. Ich hatte sowieo keine Liste geführt, wer nun zugesagt oder nicht und hatte für 2/3 des Roll-Calls einfach bestellt.

Vor Le Bistro waren sie sich schon alle am Versammeln. Besonders habe ich mich über die herzliche Begrüßung von Cruise Director Jill Tasker gefreut.

Shenny Aquillano we knew from our NORWEGIAN SPIRIT voyage in January 2011. Then she was unable to do anything for us although she is Guest Services Manager:

1. Ana Roncesvalles was onboard and did everything for us so Shenny was unable to show us what she could do for us and
2. Les Riley was Hotel Director then and always asked what he can do for us.

So we had the hope that we might be pulled to her hosted table but that was not anymore. So sad. Obviously Frances, Eddie, Phyllis and Ken had luck that they had dinner with them and we had unluck: somehow a virus was onboard and not only Shenny but also many others were off-service. That was sad. But always a reason to come back. Maybe next time we have more luck.



Shenny Aquillano kannten wir ebenfalls von NORWEGIAN SPIRIT im Januar 2013 bereits. Nur damals konnte sie gar nichts für uns tun, obwohl sie Guest Services Manager ist:

1. Ana Roncesvalles war an Bord und hat alles für uns gemacht, so dass Shenny uns gar nicht zeigen konnte, was sie alles für uns machen kann und
2. Les Riley war damals Hotel Director, der uns ja auch kannte und uns ständig fragte, was er für uns tun konnte.

So hatten wir eigentlich die Hoffnung, dass wir vielleicht beim Hosted Table ihr zugelost werden, aber das gab es gar nicht mehr. Schade. So hatte wohl Frances, Eddie, Phyllis und Ken Glück, dass sie mit ihr essen gehen durften und wir leider Pech: irgendein Virus war in der Luft und nicht nur Shenny sondern auch viele andere waren dann z. T. ausgefallen. Das war schade. Aber immer ein Grund wiederzukommen. Vielleicht klappt es ja beim nächsten Mal.

Die weiteren stelle ich dann auch zu späteren Gelegenheiten näher vor. Wobei Rodney habe ich oben ja schon vorgestellt und er war ein echter Showman, der sich entsprechend präsentiert hat.
