Tag/Day 10.2 auf der/on NORWEGIAN JADE in Neapel/Naples, Italy

Wie gerne wäre ich jetzt mit einer Autofähre zurückgefahren. 13.35 Uhr nach Sorrento. Ich würde es ja noch rechtzeitig mit der Bahn zurück zum Schiff schaffen...



How much I would like to get back on a car ferry. 13.35 hrs to Sorrento. I should make it back to Naples right on time by train...

It was a joint service so it did not make any big difference (SNAV, Gescab and NLG, and furthermore Caremar with their car ferries) which you are walking in.



Es sind wohl Gemeinschaftsverkehr (SNAV, Gescab und NLG, sowie Caremar mit ihren Autofähren), so dass es keinen großen Unterschied macht, durch welches Tor man läuft.

Da ist die Autofähre: 13.35 Uhr nach Sorrento...

And again above the oben deck.



Und oben wäre wieder ein offenes Deck gewesen.

Die Fährgesellschaft ist finanziell mit MSC verbunden. Daher ist man sehr angetan, dass den MSC Hoodie anhatte. So darf ich hinter der Absperrung die Ausfahrt auf Capri und die Einfahrt in Neapel fotografieren.

And of course I used this occasion to take pictures of MY NORWEGIAN JADE in Naples.



Und bei der Gelegenheit durfte ich natürlich MEINE NORWEGIAN JADE in Neapel fotografieren.

Damit war alles wieder vergessen und vergeben. Und da Michele erzählt hat, dass er aus Pompeji stammt und wir bisher immer noch nicht in Pompeji waren, ist das ja eine gute Gelegenheit ihn für die Tour mit der ALLURE OF THE SEAS im Oktober 2015 vorzumerken. Unseren Wunsch die Oasis-Klasse der Royal Caribbean kennenzulernen haben wir auf drei Nächte in 2015 beschränkt und damit die OASIS OF THE SEAS im September 2014 abgesagt und wir bleiben auf der NORWEGIAN JADE im September 2014.



So everything was forgiven and forgotten. And when Michele told that he is from Pompeii and we have never been so far to Pompeji it might be a good occasion to have tour with him when we are back in Naples on ALLURE OF THE SEAS in October 2015. Our wish to make aquaintance with the Oasis-Class of Royal Caribbean has been reduced to three nights in 2015 and so we cancelled OASIS OF THE SEAS in September 2014 and we stay on NORWEGIAN JADE in September 2014.

We still had time left for a short walk. So far we oriented only towards the Central Station.



Uns bleibt noch die Zeit für einen kurzen Spaziergang. Bisher haben wir uns immer Richtung Hauptbahnhof orientiert.

Dieses Mal führt uns der Weg an der Piazza Municipio entlang.



So this time the way took us to the Piazza Minicipio.

Alongside the New Castle which you can easily see from the ship. He explained how it came to the bomb hole.



Entlang der neuen Burg, die man ja schon gut vom Schiff aus sieht. Er erklärt uns hier, wie es zu diesem Einschussloch gekommen ist.

Hier waren wir erstmalig mit der MSC MUSICA 2007. Damals waren sie schon beim U-Bahn-Bau und sie sind es immer noch. Und Michele erklärt uns, dass sie kaum vorwärts kommen, weil sie ständig etwas aus der Römerzeit finden und dann wieder alles umplanen müssen.



It was by MSC MUSICA in 2007 when we were the first time here. Then they were already working on their subway. And Michele explained that they do not move forward since they find all the time something from the ancient Roman period and had to replan everything.

We headed trough Via San Carlo to the San Carlo Theater to Piazza Trieste e Trento with the Archioke Fountain. Then we went to Piazza del Plebistico with the Royal Palace and the Royal Basilica San Francesco die Paola. Michele warned us to see some of the side streets in this area as they could be dangerous. Sigi told us later that she was looking for a women's purse and entered such a street and quickly returned.



Weiter geht es durch die Via San Carlo vorbei am Theater San Carlo zur Piazza Trieste e Trento mit dem Artichockenbrunnen und weiter zur Piazza del Plebistico mit dem königlichen Palast und der königlichen Basilika San Francesco di Paola. Michele warnt uns jedoch davor, bestimmte Seitenstraßen in dieser Gegend zu begehen, da sie nicht ungefährlich sind. Sigi erzählt uns hinterher, dass sie auf der Suche nach einer Handtasche in so einer Straße wohl war und schnell wieder zurückgegangen ist.

Aufgrund einer Diskussion im deutschen Forum, haben wir uns in der Galleria Umberto I umgesehen. Der Bau ist schon beeindruckend, der Besuch war allerdings sehr enttäuschend. Zunächst einmal weil fast alle Geschäft geschlossen hatten und leider auch die Rolläden unten waren, dass man noch nicht einmal gucken konnte. Und vor allem weil wir vor kurzem noch in Mailand in der Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Mailand waren und die eigentlich durch die Geschäfte und Architektur noch beeindruckender ist (siehe MSC PREZIOSA-Blog).



Due to a discussion in a German forum we went to see Galleria Umberto I. The building was quite impressive but the visit was somehow very disappointing. First of all most of the shops were closed and all shutters were down so you even were not able to see anything. And especially after we saw recently Galleria Vittorio Emuanuele II in Milan and the shops there and the architecture were more impressive (see MSC PREZIOSA-Blog).







Wir ärgern uns, dass wir nicht noch eine Pizza gegessen haben. Und hier wäre unsere letzte Gelegenheit gewesen. Schade.



We were upset because we did not have here a pizza. And here it was our last chance. How sad.

Da Michele is located in another part of the city and another pizzeria should be just at Piazza Muncipio at Cristof Colombo - but that was closed meanwhile. But you need to pay a lot of attention when you are looking for a Pizzeria at Piazza Municipio. People from Naples thinks that traffic signals are more or less a non-committal recommendation. So just coming as a pedestrian right from Florence it is extremely dangerous to cross the streets.



Da Michele liegt in die andere Richtung und eine gute Pizzeria an der Piazza Municipo Ecke via Cristof Colombo wurde zwischenzeitlich geschlossen. Nur bei der Suche nach der Pizzeria muss man hier am Piazza Municipio wahnsinnig aufpassen. Neapolitaner halten Ampelregelungen mehr für eine unverbindliche Empfehlung. Als Fußgänger, der gerade aus Florenz kommt, ist das Überqueren der Straße lebensgefährlich.

Wir sollen die Gebäckspezialität aus Neapel probieren: Sfogliate.



We should try a pastry speciality from Naples: Sfogliate.

Before Michele said good-bye he said that we should do it in Caffe Gabrinus. I need to correct myself: not just Caffee but Storico Gran Caffee! Great coffee, nicely decorated and furbished, if you stay at the bar not really overpriced but anything else snobbish - especially their waiters arrogant, decadent and insolent. Historically I could not find any year- neither on their napkins nor on their website. Only doorkeepers were missing. They served Sfogliate warm and it was like a fright dumpling with cheese filling. After that no pizza would have a chance to fit into the stomach.



Bevor sich Michele verabschiedet, meint er jedoch, dass wir das unbedingt hier im Caffe Gambrinus probieren sollten. Ich muss mich korrigieren: Nicht einfach Caffe sondern Storico Gran Caffee! Toller Kaffee, schönes Ambiente, wenn man an der Bar steht nicht überteuert, ansonsten total versnobt und die Kellner absolut arrogant, dekadent, überheblich. Historisch gibt es nirgendst eine Jahreszahl - weder auf den Servietten oder auf der Homepage. Es fehlten bloß Türsteher. Die Sfogliate wird hier nämlich warm serviert und ist eine Art Fettgebäck mit Quarkfüllung. Danach hätte eh keine Pizza mehr in irgendeinen Magen reingepasst.

Leider entdecken wir um die Ecke noch eine tolle Eistheke.



Unfortunately we discoverd too late the wonderful presentation of ice cream.

Without beeing certified and awarded Italian pastry chef you were treated like a beggar by the snobbish, arrogant, decadent and insolent bar tenders. I did not know that Granita and Gelati are not the same price. As you have to pay at the cashier before you need to return and pay the 50 Cent first. Granita is the Sicily style of sherbet - just frozen water ice in a shape of little hailstones: on the top with espresso flavour and at the bottom with mint flavour.



Nur ohne Ausbildung als italienischer Patisseur mit Auszeichnung wurde man leider von den versnobten, arroganten, dekandenten, überheblichen Verkäufern, wie ein Bettler behandelt. Leider wusste ich nicht, dass Granita und Gelati nicht gleich berechnet werden. Da man ja an der Theke zahlt, muss ich zur Theke zurücklaufen und 50 Cent nachzahlen. Granita ist das sizilianische Halbgefrorene - eigentlich Wassereis in Hagelkornform mit Geschmack: oben Espresso und unten Minze.

Der Espresso war zu intensiv, dann doch lieber in einem Tässchen.



The espresso was too strong - having it in little cups is much more nicer.

But the mint was just like heaven. We requested to have two more spoons and we got rolled eyes and one spoon more. So: who like to try something like us should better take some silverware of your own from the ship. But it was yummy.



Aber die Minze war einfach himmlisch. Auf die Bitte, ob wir vielleicht noch zwei Löffel bekommen könnten, gab es ein Augenrollen und einen Löffel. Also: wer wie wir mal Sachen einfach probieren will, sollte vom Schiff sich sein eigenes Besteck mitbringen. Aber lecker war es.

Als uns ein Eishagelkorn auf dem blanken Marmorboden fällt, beschließen wir fluchtartig das historische Grand Café zu verlassen, bevor unsere Haftpflichtversicherung uns kündigt, wenn wir den Schadensfall einreichen...



When one little hailstone felt down on the blank marble floor we decided to leave quickly the historical grand coffee store before our third-party-insurance might quit our contracts if we have to report a damage.

We slowly moved back towards the ship.



Wir laufen langsam zum Schiff zurück.

Und ich mal gespannt, wie es im Oktober 2015 hier aussieht. Ob die Metro dann schon fährt?

That must be the place where the Pizzaria was which was also attended by many crew members.



Das müsste wohl die Pizzeria gewesen sein, die wohl auch von vielen von der Crew besucht wurde.

Die Straßenbahn 1 geht es zum Bahnhof Porta Nolana, wenn man mit der Bahn Richtung Herculaneum, Pompeji oder Sorrento fahren will.



Tram Route 1 is leaving for Porta Nolana train station when you need to board the trains towards Herculaneum, Pompeji or Sorrento.

Ist wirklich in Sichtweite des Schiffs.

Ich gönne mir noch einen letzten Espresso für 0,70 EUR. Im Gambrinus waren es ja sogar 1,00 EUR.



I treated myself with a last espresso for 0.70 EUR. I had to pay 1.00 EUR in Gambrinus.

Just in front of the cruise terminal they found some ancient buildings. Maybe the ancient Romans liked to go on cruises themselves and here they had an ancient Roman cruise terminal at this location.



Sogar direkt vor dem Kreuzfahrtterminal finden sich noch historische Bauten. Vielleicht haben ja die alten Römer von hier aus auch schon Kreuzfahrten gemacht und es ist ein antikes römisches Kreuzfahrtterminal, das hier gefunden wurde.

Noch die Treppe hoch und dann wäre es geschafft.

Bald kommt es auch schon... aber kein Salz und Pfeffer... Muss man jetzt nochmals anrufen und bis dahin ist alles kalt.

Und eine Hühner-Nudel-Suppe... aber die Brühe war nicht so gut, wie die Suppe im Blue Lagoon Café.

Wenn man jetzt einen Pager bekommt, bekommt man direkt einen Gutschein für ein Glas Sekt oder ein Softdrink, um die Wartezeit zu überbrücken, bis ein Tisch in einem der Hauptrestaurants frei wird.

Und früher gab es die Möglichkeit zwei Cocktails zum Preis von einem zu bekommen. Hier konnte man ja noch Umsatz machen und heute entstehen nur Kosten. Was ist los mit NCL, dass sie mal an den Gast denken und nicht nur, wie man Kosten einspart?



Before you had the chance to buy two cocktails for the price of one. So they could make revenue and today they only have costs. What is wrong with NCL that they think of the guests and not how to cut costs?

Marc got us a table in Le Bistro. For our farewell we like to experience one more time the outstanding service from Mahmut and his entire Le Bistro team.



Marc hat uns einen Tisch im Le Bistro gebucht. Zum Abschied möchten wir nochmals den tollen Service mit Mahmut und seinem Team im Le Bistro genießen.

Zwischendurch verlasse ich jedoch mal die Tafel, um Marcs Angebot zu nutzen, mal schnell das Schokoladenbüffet zu fotografieren. Anscheinend haben es die anderen Gäste schon gestürmt.



It between I left the table to accept Marc's offer to take some pictures of the chocololate buffet. But obviously the guests already charged the buffet.

Karlheinz (who was with his wife Käthe and us on NORWEGIAN JADE in January 2011 but could not join us) would be very happy to see it: finally some rough sea. But it was very limited to feel.



Karlheinz (der mit uns Januar 2011 auf der NORWEGIAN JADE war und leider mit Käthe nicht mitkommen konnte) würde sich hierüber freuen: endlich mal etwas unruhige See. Aber es hält sich in Grenzen.
