Somehow this side of the city was quite boring during the awakening. Normally I could just watch for hours how a city is waking up but we were told later that here were the real living districts.

The busses for the tours were waiting down.

An ambulance. Later we set sail delayed because he supposed to have some guests more onboard while others were missing.

Every morning we were greeted by Celeste Mercado and were taken to our table. But guess what happens a guest cannot pay his bill. She will get out her finger and see on the sign how it looks like. In the evening she will welcome you in the Granc Pacific.

Everywhere you had serving cutlery and tongues. And you still have COMPLETE IDIOTS within the guests who were allowed to have breakfast in Cagney's who had no idea how to used them and grab everything barehanded from the buffet. They went on: they even had no idea how to use knives and forks and pushed the cold cut without bread barehanded in their mouth.

The next morning everything was different anyway and nobody was allowed anymore to help himself. That made HIM complaining that he had to wait for ten minutes and he was not allowed to grab everything himself. SHE arrived at the end of the queue and started to snip with her fingers like in a junior high schhool that the waiters should server her immediately and ignore anyone else in the queue. I remember a German TV-movie when someone was allowed to fly First Class with Lufthansa and her daugther had no etiquette either. So another fellow-passenger asked: "Please accept my apology for being curious, but my husband and I would be really interested to know if you might become winner in a lottery recently.".

I asked them to rebuild my Frittata in a way I love it. And they got me some English saussage from the Garden Café.

Lecker.

Just plain with some diced ham. Yummy.

Due to missing landing card and today's sailing: better safe than sorry.

And today we need to be right on time back on board.

To our big surprise Faruk was waiting for us again. His wife treated him in such a way that he felt much more better after the night. A difference like day and night. He told us that there was a virus circulating in Istanbul. Faruk first helped two other fellow-cruisers who had no idea how to get in.

Then he used his card to pay for our rides that we must not find the token-machine.

In few minutes we arrived at Sultanahmet tram stop. From here we saw directly towards the Blue Mosque.

We were at the Hippodrome (Horse race court). I thought it should look more like Ascot.

It was more the ancient Hippodrome which was located here. Today you still find two obelisks there. Due to the logistics requirement I am quite impressed as Logistic man how they shipped this as one piece from Egypt to here.

The Snake Column with Greek origin.

Die Schlangensäule mit griechischer Herkunft.

Der Sultanahmet-Bezirk ist alles UNESCO-Welterbe.

The Sultanahmet-District is all UNESCO World Heritage.

Es geht dann in die sog. Blaue bzw. Sultanahmet-Moschee.

We headed to the Blue or Sultanahmet-Mosque.

As this is an active Mosque you had to follow few rules as visitor.

Unbedingt in angemessener Kleidung erscheinen.

You had to show up in appropiate clothes.

You just follow the same rules at the Sultanahmet-Mosque like you would follow to see St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City.

Or in Bangkok too when you visit Wat Arun. Some respect for the habits of other religions is always appreciated.

In the St. Peter's Basilica visitors are not welcome during the services. Smae with the Sultanahmet-Mosque.

As you are waling through the Mosque, i.e. you leave at a different exit you get plastic bags to carry your shoes.

Just in case you can get a wrap too.

And for the ladies again a headscarf.

The brochures in mulitple languages give you information on the Islam.

And you could later see the information center to get further information.

As with the Christian Churches you do not have one single Islam but many different directions. After we heared what Volkan told us in Izmir we learned some more different aspects by Faruk. What was annoying me was the vacuum cleaning between the prayers. But that was due to the cleanliness rules.

I was wondering if I need to set up something like that in our office building for my Turkish secretary.

As I was very much fascinated I decided to support the maintanence of the Sultanahmet-Mosque and donated some money.

To enable me to make a tax deduction I got on the reverse side an official stamp to confirm my donation.

Would not there be a more elegant solution?

But the church was up-to-date and so they displayed in digital form when you have to pray.

So walked through the Sultanahmet-Park.

Just to remember for the next visit: Ayasofya Hamam. On the half way from Sultanahmet-Mosque to Hagia Sophia.

Looked like it was set up from the ancient Haseki Hürrem Spas.

And so we walked over to Hagia Sophia. Today it is a Museum and no more a mosque/church. So the admission to Sultanahmet-Mosque was complimentary but here you had to pay 25.00 TRY (2014). Summing up it was now 65.00 TRY and so it was not worth to by the Museums Pass which was offered in mobile outlets in front of the Hagia Sophia. Unfortunately half of Hagia Sophia was a construction side. Even though it is a very interesting place you must see. Faruk explained many of the details and also attracted our attention to many details we would not discovered normally.
