Tag/Day 1.5 auf der/on NORWEGIAN SPIRIT in Barcelona, Spain

Ferner war noch die COSTA DELIZIOSA auf ihrer Weltreise unterwegs.



Furthermore there was COSTA DELIZIOSA which was on her world voyage.

When I posted later on Facebook blanca (Angela and Peter from a German cruise forum) posted that they were just now onboard. Unfortunately I only stored their Japenese number so we cannot meet in Funchal to have a cup of coffee. How sad.



Als ich später die Bilder auf Facebook poste, meldet sich blanca (Angela und Peter), dass sie gerade drauf sind. Blöderweise habe ich bloß deren japanische Handynummer gespeichert, so dass wir uns leider nicht in Funchal auf einen Kaffee treffen können. Wie schade.





















Was machen die eigentlich mit den ganzen Schiffsschrauben an Bord... die gehören doch unter Wasser...



What did they do with all the ship's screws on board... they should be under the waterline...

Now I have the explaination for the dint in the ship... The guy next to me pushed his finger into the ship... (no... by exception it was not Bruno... he only do it with freshly-baked French baguette bread...).



Nun habe ich die Erklärung für die Delle im Schiff... Der Typ nehmen mir hat da mit seinem Finger reingedrückt... (nein... ausnahmsweise mal nicht Bruno... der macht so etwas bloß beim frisch-gebackenem Baguette...).









Wir mussten dringendst zurück, weil Seenotrettungsübung war. Alle Mann auf dem offenen Deck. Zum Glück war schönes Wetter, so war es nicht so schlimm...



We had to return quickly as the life drill would start soon. Everyone on the open deck. We had luck and it was nice weather so it was not too bad...

They offered immediately Charly and my father to have a seat. But both said that they would stand. It was nice that you do not need the life vest anymore. To my surprise: the 3rd language after English and German was not Spanish but Russian. Some background: two ethnic group of the former CIS-countries were on baord and they had some fights on other ships. So that was the reason why you had so frequently patrol by the security on all days at sea. But everything was calm on board. Compared to our experience on CELEBRITY EQUINOX they did not attract our attention but in the elevator because they never squeezed to give more guests a chance to enter. Another time a crew member escorted a group to the elevator and entered the first cabin without taking care of guests who were waiting already a while. Because their lift went first it became a "local" (like in New York subway: stops at every stop). So we got the next one as "Express" and it was fun to see that we arrived earlier... It was nice to win such little stupid games.



Karl-Heinz und meinem Vater haben sie sofort angeboten, dass sie ihnen eine Sitzmöglichkeit besorgen. Aber das haben beide abgelehnt. Schön war, dass man keine Rettungswesten mehr dabei haben musste. Zu meiner Überraschung: die 3. Sprache nach Englisch und Deutsch war nicht Spanisch sondern Russisch. Zum Hintergrund: zwei Volksgruppen der ehemaligen GUS-Staaten an Bord waren und man wohl auf anderen Schiffen sich Prügeleien geleistet hatte. Deswegen lief verhältnismäßig oft auch an Seetagen die Security Patrouille. Aber bei uns blieb alles friedlich. Sonst fielen sie nicht so extrem negativ auf, wie damals auf der CELEBRITY EQUINOX: Im Fahrstuhl rücken die nie zusammen und einmal gab es wohl einen Vorteil jemand von der Crew ihre Landsleute im Fahrstuhl begleite und sich den 1. Fahrstuhl schnappte, der kam und keine Rücksicht auf diejenigen mehr nahmen, die eigentlich schon länger auf den Fahrstuhl gewartet hatten. Dadurch, dass sie aber im 1. Fahrstuhl waren, der abfuhr, wurden sie zum "local" (Bezeichnung in der New Yorker U-Bahn), der dann in jedem Stock hielt. Weil wir anderen dann nochmals warten mussten, bekamen wir einen "Express" und erreichten unser Ziel vor den anderen... So kleine Spielchen machen doch Spaß, wenn man sie gewinnt.

For dinner we got one of the two round tables for 10 which they had in the Windows.



Abends haben wir dann einen von den beiden runden 10-er Tischen bekommen, die es im Windows gab.



As usual I had my Shirley Temple...



Ich nahm wie üblich meinen Shirley Temple...



Somehow we had the impression that the food was much more better than three months ago on NORWEGIAN SUN... At the end of the voyage I lost 5 lbs. weight although I really ate a lot.



Und irgendwie hatte ich den Eindruck, dass das hier das Essen noch besser war, als auf der NORWEGIAN SUN... Denn am Ende der Reise wog ich 2,5 kg weniger, obwohl ich sehr viel gegessen hatte.



A Facebook friend from Vienna Max Meier sent me a message as he sailed in the summer on NORWEGIAN SPIRIT. He was very exited of his waiters and asked me to say hello to them. One of them was just now on this picutre: Aldrin de Guzman.



Ich wurde von Max Meier über Facebook angeschrieben, der im Sommer auf der NORWEGIAN SPIRIT war und ganz begeistert von seinen Kellnern erzählt hat, die ich unbedingt grüßen sollte. Und einer davon befindet sich gerade hier auf dem Bild: Aldrin de Guzman.





Hummerabend...



Lobster night...



Und so wie wir es mögen: er hat für uns die Hummerschale entfernt.

Of course we got some more to upgrade to a Surf and Turf.



Und selbstverständlich gab es Nachschlag, um es zum Surf und Turf aufzuwerten.









Der 1. Abend war bereits ein voller Erfolg: Gutes Essen und ein toller Service von Aldrin und seiner Partnerin Ruby Montealto.

Bruno's parents and Charly and Katie and their visit in the "Disco"...



Brunos Eltern und Karl-Heinz und Käthe gehen noch in die "Disco"...



We registered for the behind-the-scene-tour which we can join free-of-charge as Platinum members.



Wir registrieren uns noch für die Behind-The-Scenes-Tour, an der wir als Platin-Mitglieder kostenlos daran teilnehmen können.

Und besorgen uns noch ein Wasserpaket für unsere Kabine, damit wir keine teuren Einzelflaschen der Mini-Bar abgerechnet bekommen. Unseren Steward informieren wir, dass am Schluss eine volle Wasser stehen wird, bevor die Mini-Bar zum Ende der Reise abgerechnet und abgeschlossen wird. Da wir zwischenzeitlich internationale Gewässer erreicht haben, entfällt die spanische Mehrwertsteuer darauf. Übrigens: Mehrwertsteuerpflichtig ist ebenfalls die Passage durch Straße von Gibraltar und der Aufenthalt rund um Malaga. Wir sind müde und gehen ins Bett... was wohl die anderen in der "Disco" noch machen...



Finally we bought a 6-pack of water for our cabin so must not buy single expensive bottles from our mini-bar. We informed our steward that at the end of the voyage before they set the bill and lock the fridge there will be a full bottle of water. As we reached meanwhile international waters no Spanish VAT was added to our purchase. By the way: VAT applies also during the passage of Gibraltar and during the stay around Malaga. We were tired and need to see the bed... wondering what they were doing in the "Disco"...
