Ich hatte mich eigentlich geweigert in der Plaka zu essen... 2005 hatte ich es so in Erinnerung: Türsteher, die versuchen einen reinzuziehen... mag ich nicht... und nur ein überteuerter Touristennepp nach dem anderen.



I did not want to have food in the Plaka district... 2005 I had in such memories: door-keeper who tried to pull you in the restaurant... I do not like it... and only one over-priced tourist-traps next to the other.

But in this part of the Plaka it quite calm. Nobody was standing in front of the restaurant AND tried to get us in.



Aber in diesem Teil der Plaka ist es ruhig. Niemand, der vor der Tür steht UND versucht reinzuziehen.

Im Gegenteil. Leuter kleine Museen.



Just opposite. Many small museums.













Looks very pleasant to me.



Irgendwie sieht es sehr gemütlich aus.

Aber es sitzt keiner da.



But no was sitting there.

Was it just to early to have lunch (13.30 hrs)???



Ist es noch zu früh zum Essen (13.30 Uhr)???

Auch später als wir wieder rausgehen aus dem Lokal, in dem wir essen, sitzt dort keiner. Nur der Vogel.



Also when we left our restaurant where we ate there was still nobody sitting there. Just the bird.

We were just at this corner.



Wir befinden uns an dieser Straßenkreuzung.

Gegenüber an dem Lokal an dem keiner sitzt, kann man es besser lesen, wenn man kein Griechisch kann...



Opposite at the restaurant where nobody were sitting you can read it easier where you are if you cannot speak any Greek...

So the stairs upwards to the left and to the right.

Johanna just asked some people around who lived there and they commended her the restaurant. She was invited to go in and check the interior and the menu.



Johanna hatte ein paar Bewohner gefragt, die ihr das empfohlen haben und in der Tat wird sie eingeladen, sich erst mal im Inneren umzuschauen und die Karte anzusehen.

Innen sitzen auch tatsächlich Gäste. Wir sind die einzigen Touristen für die nächsten 90 Minuten. Und das Lokal ist rappelvoll, als wir es verlassen. Alles Familien und Freunde, die sich zum Mittagessen verabredet haben.



Inside there were sitting few guests. But obviously we were the only tourists for the next 90 minutes. And the inn was complete full when we later left it. All were friends and families who met for a lunch there.

We could not read anything on the cover.



Auf dem Umschlag können wir schon mal nichts lesen.

Aber in der Karte gibt es zumindest englische Schlagwörter.



But you find on the menu few essentials in English.

As we are in a big city I think I would say that the prices were moderate.



Die Preise sind moderat. Wir sind ja in einer Großstadt.

Der Wein wird griechisch-authentisch serviert.



They served the wine in the Greek authentic way.

Real nice bread...



Richtig leckeres Brot...

Und zwei Vorspeisen zum Teilen. Taramasalat ist leider keiner da... Dafür ist die Käsecreme sehr gut und normalerweise mag ich kein Zaziki, aber hier schmeckte er doch ganz anders, als in Deutschland...



And two starters to share. Taramasalata ran out... But the Feta cheese cream was very nice und normally I hate to eat Tsatsiki but here it was totally different from which I know from Germany and it was good...

Normally I do not take a Greek farmer's salad either. But Johanna ordered it this way like you would order it in Greece... Although so simple it was so good...



Ich nehme in Deutschland selten einen griechischen Bauernsalat. Nun hat ihn Johanna ja so bestellt, wie man ihn in Griechenland bestellt... Obwohl so einfach, ist er so lecker...

Das Lokal hat allerdings auch einen Nachteil: obwohl offiziell in Griechenland verboten: mit dem Nichtraucherschutz nimmt es das Lokal nicht so genau. Die Raucher saßen bisweilen draußen, aber als es immer kühler wurde, durften sie auch rein.



The inn had also a disadvantage: although not anymore allowed in Greece: they did not take the protection of Non-Smokers too seriously. So far all smokers sat outside but when it got cooler they let them in.

Everything something to discover. Just lovely.



Es gab überall was gucken. Einfach gemütlich.

Und sogar frisches Besteck gab es, womit ich überhaupt nicht gerechnet hatte.



I did not expected to get fresh silverware for my next course.

We felt just great.



Uns ging es richtig gut.

Der Lamm-Souvlaki war so das Beste, was ich mal bei Bruno probieren konnte. Ich esse nie wieder Souvlaki in Deutschland und lasse es mir dann einfliegen...



The lamb-souvlaki was the very best I ever tried from Bruno. I will never have Souvlaki again in Germany and let them deliver it by plane...

The girls had a roasted beef in tomato sauce and pearl onions.



Die Mädels hatten ein Schmorbraten in Tomatensauce mit Perlzwiebeln.

Allen schmeckt es.



Everyone of us loved the food.

I had the largest filled Bifteki I ever had in my life so far. And it was so good I ate only the meat.



Ich hatte den größten gefüllten Bifteki, den ich in meinem Leben je hatte. Und so lecker, dass ich nur das Fleisch aufgegessen habe.

Den Dessert gab es vom Haus.



The desert was on the house.

We paid for all (incl. tips) 105.00 EUR for 5 persons. That was not bad for a city of the size of Athens.



Wir haben alles inkl. (inkl. Trinkgelder) 105,00 EUR für 5 Personen bezahlt. Das finde für eine Großstadt wie Athen nicht schlecht.

Allerlings verwundert uns die neue MWSt.-Politik. Alles 11% bis auf Wein 23%, der in den Augen der griechischen Regierung nicht als lebenserhaltend eingestuft wurde.



But I was surprised on the new VAT-policy. Everything on 11% but wine 23% who seems to be not relevant to keep you alive.

Of course I would like to have a card...



Gerne nehme ich mir ein Kärtchen mit...

Und mein Mathelehrer wäre stolz auf mich: bis auf einen Buchstaben, habe ich alles wieder erkannt...



And my teacher would be so proud on me: all letters but one were identified by me...

So it is below the Acropolis... northbound... The touristic part of Plaka is more towards Syntagma (right at the top - Metro).



So unterhalb der Akropolis... Richtung Norden... Der touristische Teil der Plaka liegt eher Richtung Syntagma (rechts oben - Metro) hin.

Mein Vorschlag ein Taxi zu Bestellen, damit wir zum Taxi zurückkommen, stieß auf wenig Gegenliebe, weil erstens alles nur mit Stufen zu erreichen ist und alle laufen wollten. Also müssen wir den ganzen Berg wieder hoch... Uns hat der Tag sehr gut gefallen. Übrigens Johannas Mann Nico steht für englische Touren zur Verfügung. Buchungen am besten, wenn ihr euch bei Sophia in Schwetzingen beim Struwwwelpeter die Haare schneiden lasst und bei der Gelegenheit bucht... ansonsten haben wir die Telefonnummer und E-Mail-Adresse da. Nochmals: es handelt sich hierbei um eine Taxi-Tour, die für 3-4 Personen gedacht ist.



I suggested to call a cab to get back to our cab but nobody else agreed because you can reach this part only by stairs and everybody wanted to walk. So we need to walk back uphills again... We had really a great day. By the way Johanna's husband Nico can offer English-speaking tours. The best way to book if you go to her sister and for hairstyling in Schwetzingen, Germany... or we have the phone number and e-mail-address. Again: it is a taxi-tour for 3-4 persons.
