Wieder bekamen wir einen Gruß zugestellt.



We got again a greeting.

And our laundry bag was back. This time so quickly... But as many guests stayed overnight in Cairo they had less to laundry.



Und unser Wäschesack kam zurück. Dieses Mal schon so schnell... Nun gut: durch die vielen Gäste, die über Nacht in Kairo geblieben sind, musste ja auch weniger gewaschen werden.

Es gab mal wieder ein Handtuchtier...



We got again an animal towel...

As we were heading back now and most cruisers came back from Cairo very tired they must be happy to have an additional hour to sleep.



Da wir ja wieder zurückfahren und die Mehrzahl der Cruiser bestimmt hundemüde aus Kairo zurück sind, gibt es heute Nacht bereits eine Stunde mehr zum Schlafen.

Heute geht es zum Italiener. Eric Cousins hatte uns auf der NORWEGIAN EPIC gefragt, ob wir den "neuen" Italiener schon ausprobiert haben. Damals hatten wir ja nur festgestellt, dass er immer schlechter wurde, und so gab es eine neue Karte.



We went this night to the Italians. Eric Cousins asked us on NORWEGIAN EPIC if we knew and tested the "new" Italian. We had the impression that it became worse and worse and so they released a new menu.

We requested a table with Monica. By the way she was the only one who looked for Bruno's dark pants and changed against a black napkin.



Wir haben uns einen Tisch bei Monica geben lassen. Sie war übrigens während der gesamten Cruise, die mal nach der Farbe der Hose geguckt hat und daher Bruno eine schwarze Serviette auf den Schoß gelegt hat.

Der Anti-Pasta-Wagen wurde abgeschafft. Stattdessen gibt es immer einen Teller für zwei... Wenn es um Rationalierungseffekte geht... dann packt doch direkt alles auf einen Teller und serviert ihn direkt...



No more anti-pasta-trolley. Instead you got a plate for two... If it is to rationalize you better pack everything on the final plate and serve it directly...

We knew Monica from NORWEGIAN DREAM 2008 but maybe already from 2007. I am not very sure because I had no pictures. We missed her on NORWEGIAN JADE 2009 when she entered the service and we debarked the same date. Then she followed her fiancee. Now she is a happy married woman. We heared by rumors that NCL suspended their plans to offer more single cabins and also the number of bookings of single men went down rapidly. Only the number of myterious fatalities (poison or knife) on board increased extremely... Her husband is chef and guess what happens if you get to close to his wife...



Monica kennen wir von der NORWEGIAN DREAM 2008, evtl. auch schon 2007. Da bin ich mir nicht ganz sicher, weil ich davon keine Bilder habe. Auf der NORWEGIAN JADE 2009 haben wir sie verpasst, weil sie gerade an Bord kam, als wir ausschifften. Damals um ihrem Verlobten zu folgen, der an Bord arbeitet. Nun eine glücklich verheiratete Frau... Wir haben gehört, dass seit dem NCL wieder die Pläne aufgegeben hat, Singlekabinen einzuführen und die Buchungszahlen von Single-Männern zurückgegeangen ist... Angestiegen soll jedoch die Zahl der ungeklärten Todesfälle (entweder Gift oder Messer...) an Bord sein... Ihr Mann ist Koch und wer seiner Frau zu Nahe kommt...

Wir haben Glück und können beruhigt das tolle Brot (besonders das Foccacia) mit dem Olivenöl und Balsamessig genießen. Ihr Mann hat derzeit Urlaub und ist gar nicht an Bord.



We were lucky and could just enjoy the great bread (especially the foccacia) with some olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Her husband was on vacation and therefore not on board.

Something we did not like since our very first visit at Pappa's Italian Kitchen on NORWEGIAN JADE 2008... That you need to keep the menus so long time and cannot start to eat...



Etwas, was wir seit unserem allerersten Besuch bei Pappa's Italian Kitchen auf der NORWEGIAN JADE 2008 schon nicht mochten... Dass man so ewig die Speisekarten behalten muss und noch nicht anfangen kann, zu essen.

Richtig schön, wie in einer italienischen Trottaria...

Who does not like to pay the cover charge: you get the calamari at lunch in Grand Pacific.



Wer nicht zuzahlen mag: diese Calamari gibt es auch auf der Mittagskarte im Grand Pacific.

Allerdings gibt es dort nicht die tolle Aioli, die wir kurzerhand behalten und nicht wieder rausrücken...



But you do not get the great aioli which we kept on the table and did not return.

The Carpaccio was nice but for my taste it was too thin so it was torn apart immediately. Some pine nuts would have been very nice...



Das Carpaccio ist zwar lecker, aber für meinen Geschmack zu dünn, da es sofort auseinanderreißt. Ein paar Pinienkerne wären noch nett gewesen...

Ich hatte als Zwischengang (Primo) noch eine kleine Portion (zumindest hatte ich eine verlangt) Tortellini. Es war lecker, aber die reine Pesto wäre mir lieber gewesen...



I ordered as Primo (intermediate course) a small portion (that I was requesting for...)) Tortellini. It was nice but a pure pesto would have been nicer...

The parmesan cheese mill was not abolished so far... You get it freshly grounded over your Cesar's salad.



Die Parmesanmühle wurde noch nicht abgeschafft... Es gibt ihn frisch gerieben über den Cesar's Salad.

Komisches Teil... sieht aus wie beim Zirkus...



Strange part... looked like in a circus...

The pizza came... but not as thin ans crispy as in Rome... So I had requested for... but they did their best...



Die Pizza kommt... aber leider nicht so hauchdünn und knusprig, wie in Rom... So hatte ich zumindest angefragt... aber sie haben ihr bestes gegeben...

Eric Cousins: von jetzt an will ich zum Frühstück, Mittagessen und Abendessen nur noch dieses Rib-Eye-Steak (Zwischenrippenstück / Entrecôte) haben... So ein leckeres Steak...



Eric Cousins: from now on I would like to have breakfast, lunch and dinner such a rib-eye-steak... such a great piece of meat...

"My wife had the fish..." - but now as a pasta dish...



"Meine Frau hatte den Fisch..." - nur dieses Mal in der Form eines Pastagerichtes...

Und wieder gab es frisch-geriebenen Parmesan dazu.



And again fresh-grounded parmesan.

The Tirami-su was a little disappointing. At this night the cosistency was not correct. Happened to me as well if I whip the cream too long and you get little butter flakes which you can taste here.



Von dem Tirami-Su war ich enttäuscht. Da stimmte heute die Konsistenz nicht. Ist wohl das passiert, was mir auch mal passiert, wenn man die Schlagsahne zu lange schlägt: das gibt so kleine Butterflöckchen, die man rausschmeckte.

Monica meinte aber nur zu mir, dass sie findet, dass der Käsekuchen zu 80% aus Ricotta noch viel besser sei... vor allem hat sie Recht: er schmeckt nicht amerikanisch süß, sondern ausgesprochen fein nach Ricotta... Ich bin froh, dass Monica im Oktober an Bord sein wird und dann werden wir hoffentlich auch den glücklichen Ehemann mal kennenlernen.



Monica just said that I should try the cheesecake because it is much more better as it is made out of 80% ricotta cheese... she was totally right: it was not American sweet but you can taste the fine flavour of the ricotta cheese... I am very glad to know that Monica will be on the ship in October and I truly hope that we can make acquaintance of her happy husband as well.

For Katie and Charlie the coupon was accepted. But we forgot to tell them that they need to have the bill from Le Bistro with them. So for the next time we will ask at Le Bistro for one more copy. It was obviously not in the margin of discretion of the maître to accept our two visits in Jasmine Garden and Paniolo as one visit in Le Bistro. But so far: we were guests of NCL in Le Bistro so we have no problem to pay the full cover charge in Pappa's Italian Kitchen... NCL is treating us very well so no reason to complain the small amounts. We were so full that we went immediately to bed.



Für Käthe und Karl-Heinz wurde der Coupon anerkannt. Nur hatten wir ihnen vergessen zu sagen, dass man die Rechnung vom Le Bistro mitführen muss. Also merken wir uns, dass wir künftig uns direkt im Le Bistro einen Beleg mehr geben lassen. Es liegt wohl nicht im Ermessensspielraum des Maître, ob zwei Besuche im Jasmine Garden und im Paniolo als ein Besuch im Le Bistro gewertet werden kann. Nun gut: wir waren ja dafür zu Gast von NCL im Le Bistro und daher zahlen wir auch gerne die volle Zuzahlung im Pappa's Italian Kitchen... NCL behandelt uns immer so gut, dass wir uns wegen solcher kleinen Beträge nicht aufregen. Wir sind so voll, dass wir direkt ins Bett gehen.
