Seetag/Day at sea 2.1 auf der/on NORWEGIAN SUN

Das sieht ja grauenhaft aus. Grund im Bett zu bleiben.

Später sieht es jedoch freundlicher aus.



But later it looked more friendly.

The shape of the bathtub was great to take a shower.



Gute Form der Badewanne. So kann man besser duschen.

Nur die Seifenspender machen uns wahnsinnig. Drückt man leicht, kommt sehr wenig raus. Drückt man fest, springt der Deckel oben auf. Sollten sie direkt auf die Liste für den nächsten Werftaufenthalt setzen.



But we had a fight every morning with the dispensers: If you press too soft, you get only very little of the soap. If you push too strong the cover on the top just jumps off. Put it on the list for your next dry-dock stay.

Another problem: as long as the sea is not moving you can get quickly out of the bathtub. But once the sea is moving a little, you have no other rail but the towel rack to hold. I am not sure if this would work if I keep it to get out safely from the tub.



Ein weiteres Problem: so lange die See ruhig ist, kommt man gut nach dem Duschen wieder raus. Wenn jedoch wie jetzt ein wenig Seegang ist, gibt es keine Stange zum Festhalten. Oder man hält sich an der Handtuchablage fest, aber ob sie das aushält, möchte ich lieber nicht ausprobieren.

Ich bekomme meine Dose für meine Nadeln (und Rasierklingen), sowie die "Bitte nicht stören" und "Bitte aufräufen"-Schilder, die die Gäste vor uns als Souvenirs mitgenommen haben.



I got my box for my needles (and blades) and also the signs "Please do not disturb" and "Please make up room" which were apparently taken home as souvenirs by the previous cruisers.

In the afternoon we had strawberries in chocolate cover.



Nachmittags gibt es dann auch die Erdbeeren im Schokimantel.

Und das ist unser guter Geist: Vicente Olona. Der würde sogar eine Leiche für uns entsorgen, wenn wir es wollten...



This was our good spirit: Vicente Olona. He would even dispose a John Doe for us if we would ask for it.





Later the evening we got more strawberries. Earlier we got them due to my Latitudes Platinum status and later we got them as VIP-guests.



Und später am Abend gibt es nochmals welche... Davor waren die, die wir als Latitudes Platin gekommen. Nun kommen diejenigen für VIP-Gäste.

Im Restaurant sitzen Eddie und Frances.



In the restaurant were Frances and Eddie sitting.

No napkin service. Because they use in the morning and in the noontime different (smaller) silverware which was rolled into the napkin.



Kein Servietten-Service. Weil sie anderes (kleineres Besteck) morgens und mittags verwenden, wird es eingerollt.

Bevor Bruno seine Kaffeemaschine hier zum Einsatz bringt, probiert er noch einmal vorab aus, ob es nicht doch mit dem normalen Kaffee funktioniert.



Before Bruno would use his French Press in the MDR he tried one more time if he could live with this coffee or not.

But when the refill in the little pot came, he gave up to have more coffee here. From now on he only wanted to have the coffee in his French Press every morning.



Spätestens mit dem Nachfüllkännchen hier, gibt er den Versuch auf. Ab jetzt gibt es morgens nur noch den mitgebrachten Kaffee in der Bodum-Kanne morgens.

Ich bekomme wie üblich mein Teewasser, ein Glas Eis und meinen Cranberry-Juice.



I got as usual my tea water, a glass of ice and my cranberry-juice.

New: you can have breakfast à-la-carte which includes a full service but you can also have a buffet breakfast and could have served as well. So I looked around in the buffet area.



Neu ist: man kann à-la-carte frühstücken mit vollem Service, man kann aber auch am Büffet frühstücken und trotzdem noch Service haben. So gucke ich mir mal das Büffet an.

Sie essen weiter. Wir wurden bislang noch nicht bemerkt.



They continued to eat. So far they did not get any notice of us.





And we got a selection of pastries which few of them we did not like. I think the tray service would be much better.



Uns wird wieder eine Auswahl vom Frühstücksgebäck gebracht, die wir z. T. nicht mögen. Schade. Der Tablett-Service wäre hier wirklich besser.

Da sie aus den Blogs wissen, dass wir die größe der Erdbeeren zur Garnitur des Hüttenkäse und die Anzahl der Kiwi-Stücke nachmessen bzw. zählen, haben sie sichergestellt, dass jeder Obstteller wieder gleich aussieht, so wie wir ihn aus den guten Zeiten kennen. Eine Drachenfrucht gibt es leider nicht an Bord. Wir sind ja nicht bei Holland America und wir haben keinen Anlauf in Sihanoukville, Kambodscha.... Schade...



As they knew from the blogs that we would check the size of the strawberry garnish on the cottage cheese and the number of pieces of kiwi they made sure that it looked like we were used to having from the good old times. They had no dragon fruit on board. But we were not going on Holland America and had no call in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.



Hier gibt es wieder die feste Version vom Corned Beef Hash. Ich mag mehr die Pürree-Variante



Here we had the solid version of the corned beef hash. I like more the mashed version.

Marcelino Jr. Ranas was the first waiter we experienced the service we used to have with NCL. He let us forget what happened the day before and so we knew that we were not on the SUN OF THE SEAS by mistake but on MY NORWEGIAN SUN.



Marcelino jr. Ranas war dann auch der erste Kellner, bei dem wir den Service so erlebt haben, wie wir es von NCL gewohnt sind. Er lässt uns die Ereignisse von gestern vergessen und wir wissen, dass wir nicht irrtümlich auf der SUN OF THE SEAS, sondern auf der MEINER NORWEGIAN SUN sind.

Auch immer präsent und immer für alle Gäste da: Restaurant Manager Christian Schagerl. Irgendwoher kennen wir uns, bloß woher wissen wir beide nicht mehr. Eine Vermutung NORWEGIAN GEM 2007.

We had a look at the Garden Café.



Wir gehen mal zum Garden Café gucken.









Dort gönne ich mir einen frischgepressten Orangensaft gegen Zuzahlung von 2,50 USD.



There I should have a fresh-squeezed orange juice for an additional fee of 2.50 USD.



Weil Bruno dort in der Ecke steht, in der es nicht zieht, bekommt er ständig eine Waffel gebacken und angeboten, weil man denkt, dass er dort ansteht.



Because stayed there in the corner where it was not breezy they always thought that he was waiting for a fresh waffle and so they still offer him one.



Wir nehmen ein Wasserpaket.



We purchased a water package.

Because we tipped immediately, we got free delivery to our stateroom.



Weil wir sofort Trinkgeld geben, bekommen wir das Wasserpaket in die Kabine zugestellt.

Mavel tat uns leid: aus den hohen Bergen Perus müsste sie doch die Temperaturen gewohnt sein. Sie muss beim Strohhalmziehen heute Morgen verloren haben und friert hier. Trotzdem lächelt sie jeden Kunden an und desinfiziert die Hände der eingehende Gäste.



We felt so sorry for Mavel: from the mountains of Peru she should be used to have such temperatures. But apparently, she lost drawing straws this morning and was freezing here. But she gave every entering guest a smile and sanitized their hands.
