Tag/Day 1.9 auf der/on NORWEGIAN EPIC in Marseille, France

Für den Abend hatte ich sechs Plätze auf eine Kabine im Moderno in Wiesbaden vorbestellt und bezahlt. So konnten wir sicherstellen, dass wir einen Tisch zu sechs bekommen statt eines 4-er Tisches und eines 2-er Tisches, wenn die Buchung auf die jeweiligen Kabinen liefen.  Als dann ein Platz storniert wurde, gibt es Irritationen, weil die Buchung nur noch auf drei Personen läuft. So dauert es einen kleinen Moment, als sie für uns einen Tisch für fünf Personen vorbereiten müssen. Aber ich bin bereits in der 1. Sekunde am Tisch versöhnt: Chimmichuri steht an meinem Platz. Da muss jemand im alten NORWEGIAN EPIC und MSC FANTASIA-Blog nachgelesen haben, dass ich das Zeug liebe. Und es steht an meinem Platz... Woher wussten sie eigentlich, wo ich sitze?



For this night I prebooked and prepaid six seats on one cabin in the Moderno with NCL in Wiesbaden, Germany. Just to make sure that you get a table for 6 and not a table for 4 plus a table for 2 when the booking was done on the different cabins. But when I had to cancel one of the seats we got some irritations because the booking was for 3 only. So it took a little moment before they could offer us a table for 5. But at the very first second I was already satisfied: Chimmichuri was ready at my seat. Someone must read in the previous NORWEGIAN EPIC or MSC FANTASIA-Blog how much love this. And it was placed at my seat... So how did they know where I supposed to sit?





My girls were so exited to this table at the aft that they opened the curtain to enjoy the view from there and they ignored my wish to have a photo with them.



Meine Mädels sind von dem Platz am Heck so begeistert, dass sie kurzerhand den Vorhang aufmachen, um den Ausblick zu genießen und lassen sich auch nicht stören, wenn sie fotografiert werden sollen.



The standard in the world of NCL: If someone from the waiters see that the photographer of the group is not on the picture they come and offer you to take a picture that the photographer find himself also on the picture.



Das normalste auf der Welt bei NCL: Wenn jemand von den Kellnern merkt, dass der Fotograf aus der Gruppe nicht auf dem Bild ist, dann kommt er/sie und bietet an, dass der Fotograf mit auf das Bild soll.

MEINE brasilianischen Käsebrötchen, auf die mich schon seit meiner Fahrt auf der NORWEGIAN EPIC 2010 freue... In einem brasilianischen Lebensmittelladen in Braunschweig stehen sie auf der Karte, aber jedes Mal, wenn ich komme, sind sie nie verfügbar.



MY Brazilian cheese rolls with I missed so much since my very first voyage on NORWEGIAN EPIC in 2010... We have locally in Brunswick a Brazialian greengrocer and they had them on the menu but everytime I came they were not available.

The starter buffet: still good - still my same statement: worth the 20.00 USD even you have no meat later.



Das Vorspeisenbüffet: unverändert gut - unverändert meine Aussage: schon alleine das ist schon die 20,00 USD Zuzahlung Wert!

















Ich bin nun mal der Suppen-Kasper, der seine Suppe braucht.

I was her supervisor... I did not know that I was such a good sample that she started to take pictures of the food...



Ich war mal ihr Chef... war ich so ein gutes Vorbild, dass sie jetzt auch anfängt, das Essen zu fotografieren?

Andere genießen einfach das Essen schweigend... (mehr dazu später...).

Später werden wir gebeten einen Wein auf Kosten des Hauses auszusuchen. Da die Mädels sich nicht einigen können, suche ich ihnen einen Rosé aus.



Later we were asked to choose a bottle of wine on the house. As the girls had a different taste I choosed a rosé wine for them.







Nach dem auch ich mit den Vorspeisen fertig bin, kommen dann die Beilagen: Gebackene Bananen, Kartoffelpürree, Bohnen und Reis. Aber das rührt keiner bis zum Schluss an...



When I finished with my starter too they served the side dishes: baked bananas, mashed potatoes, beans and rice. But nobody touched them to the end...

They started with Filet Mignon and Strip Steak... the meat itself was so good: none of us need any side...



Es fängt mit Filet Mignon und Rumpsteak an... das Fleisch ist so gut: niemand braucht eine Beilage...

Steak grilled as one piece...



Steak im Ganzen gegrillt.

Und wie man sieht: die Lammkoteletts schmecken.



And as you could see the lamb chops were good.

Slowly prepared with a low temperature that the juice of the meat was kept in. For lovers of well-done: they asked before they start to serve and you just say it... they will put your meat for few seconds more on the fire before you get it on your table.



In einer Niedriggarmethode gegrillt, so dass der ganze Fleischsaft drinbleibt. Für well-done Liebhaber: einfach vorher sagen... sie legen einfach dann das Fleisch jeweils eine Minute auf den Grill bevor es am Tisch serviert wird.

Statt Sorbet: gegrillte mit Zimt und Zucker gewürzte Ananas.



Instead of sherbet: with cinnemon and sugar grilled pineapple.

The girls loved it.



Das kam bei den Mädels super an.



Two different kind of sausages were offered: but I took only one. I skipped also with the chicken.



Zwei verschiedene Würstchen wurden angeboten, aber ich hatte bloß eins genommen. Auch beim Hühnchen habe nicht mitgemacht.

So eine Art Rippenbraten... zart wie Butter.



A kind of roasted rib... soft as butter.

Now you should remember the famous scene in Katz in New York from the movie "When Harry met Sally" (with Bill Crystal and Meg Ryan)... the next tables indeed turned around with some little irritation when they heared the some noises which you normally would not hear in a restaurant. None need to order the same because normally they get the same... When I asked for more silence Melanie only said that I should not interrupt when she had multiple org.... So the theorery that food might be better than s... was now proofed! Our waitress Sherly Gutieres noticed by accident what she said and started to laugh out loud and only said that she started to miss her husband. These kind of spontaneous reaction which made us laughing together (crew and guests) which I loved so much with NCL.



Nun an dieser Stelle erinnere man sich an die berühmte Szene aus Harry und Sally (mit Bill Crystal und Meg Ryan), die im Katz in New York spielt... Die Nachbartische drehen sich in der Tat etwas irritiert um, als sie Geräusche hören, die man normalerweise nicht in einem Restaurant hört. Niemand muss sich das Gleiche bestellen, weil ja sie alle das Gleiche bekommen... Als ich um etwas Ruhe bitte, weil ich kein Hausverbot für mich will, meint Melanie nur, dass sie einen multiplen Org... gerade bekommt und ich sie nicht stören soll. Die These, dass Essen besser als S... sei stimmt also! Unsere Kellnerin Sherly Gutieres bekommt das reinzufällig mit und fängt schallend an zu lachen und meinte bloß, dass sie anfing ihren Ehemann zu vermissen. Dieses spontane gemeinsame Lachen und Spaß haben mit der Crew: Das ist das, was ich bei NCL liebe.

Bevor ein falscher Eindruck entsteht: Er versucht nicht Melanie zu kopieren, sondern kämpft mit einem Stückchen Knochen...

The F&B-Manager Mustaf Gulbahar came: Frances (from Facebook) pre-warned him that we will be onboard. She gave us instructions to give him some sweets if we let him have her greetings. We could understand why she was so much impressed of him. Like Mahmut, unfortunately no longer with NCL and just married (All the Best!!!) and who is also from Turkey we experienced their habit: Your friends are of course also our friends. The way we experienced on an Italian ship when only twe were VIPs on a table of 12: Two get some cheese and the other watched them eating the cheese. Something you never will experience with NCL. Everyone on the same table get the same GOOD hospitality and my girls felt it too and understood why I appreciate so much NCL.



Der F&B-Manager Mustafa Gulbahar kommt: Frances (aus Facebook) hatte ihn vorgewarnt, dass wir kommen. Uns hat sie instruiert, dass wir ihn ja mit ein paar Pralinen von ihr grüßen sollen. Ihre Begeisterung für ihn, können wir sehr gut verstehen. Wie Mahmut, der ja leider nicht mehr bei NCL ist und kürzlich geheirat hat (Alles Gute!!!) und aus der Türkei stammt, gilt folgender Grundsatz: Ihre Freunde sind selbstverständlich auch unsere Freunde. Das Prinzip, dass wir schon mal auf einem italienischen Schiff erlebt hatten, dass nur zwei, die VIPs waren, an einem 12-er Tisch einen Haps Käse bekamen und der Rest zugeguckt hat, gibt es bei NCL nicht. Alle am Tisch bekommen die gleich GUTE Gastfreundschaft und das spüren auch die Mädels und können sehr gut nachvollziehen, warum ich NCL so schätze.

Die Assistent Kellner sind für das Auftragen zuständig. Hier war es Prescila Falces. Wir genießen diesen Service.

Gerne werden auch Sonderwünsche zwischendurch erfüllt, ohne dass man auf die Runde warten muss, wie z. B. nochmals Ananas.



Of course they accepted special requests like some more pineapple again without that you need to wait the round is back.

Bevor die Beilagen abgetragen werden, soll doch noch ein Stück Banane probiert werden...





Ich bin der Entscheidungsträger: ich nehme kein Dessert und damit alle anderen auch nicht... Na gut... da wir nicht im Büro sind, machen wir es anders: wir nehmen alles einmal und so kann jeder mal probieren.



I am the decision maker: I do not take a dessert so all other either... Oh well... as we were not in the office we did it another way: we took one of each and everyone can try.





When we finally wanted to pay the beverages they only said that NCL covered everything and even I got my pre-paid cover charge refunded. So it could not be bad for you if share your good stories of NCL and you maintain a blog like me and take your friends with you to show what NCL all can offer... and the camara had a malfunction again so we could not make another picture with flash together with our waiters Sherly and Prescila as it was quite dark in the Moderno. So we said thank you again with the Maître who was in charge for us Angelo (if my researches where correct but I am not sure) but that was not the end of the night.



Als wir am Schluss die Getränke bezahlen wollen, hieß es nur, dass NCL alles übernimmt und sogar die vorausbezahlten Zuzahlungen werden wieder gutgeschrieben. Es schadet daher nicht, wenn man toll von NCL berichtet und auch einen Blog hat und wie hier Freunde mitbringt, denen man zeigen will, dass NCL viel mehr zu bieten hat als andere... und die Kamera ist wieder kaputt, das leider keine weitere Aufnahme mehr mit Blitz entstehen kann. Schade: daher gibt es leider auch keine gemeinsame Aufnahme mehr mit Sherly und Prescila, da es im Moderno recht dunkel ist. Stellvertretend bei unserem zuständigen Maître Angelo (wenn ich richtig liege, aber ich bin mir nicht sicher) bedanken sich meine Mädels für den tollen Abend (der wiederum noch nicht zu Ende ist...).
